Ch. 118

06-05 Flower Picking

"So this is Jin's house..."

"The place where Jin-kun lives..."

"You called it Kunlun Island, right?"

The three guests each offered a different reaction.

"This is just the basement where the Warp Gate is located," Jin explained. "Please, this way."

He opened the door and led them up the stairs, emerging into a spacious entrance hall.

"Oho, there are murals carved here. Are these... golems?"

Just as Reinhard noted the decor, two figures appeared.

"Welcome home, Father, Big Sister."

Soleil and Luna were there to greet them.

"Welcome, honored guests."

"I'm impressed," Reinhard said, leaning in. "Are these two also your handiwork, Jin?"

"Yeah. The gold-colored one is Soleil, and the silver-colored one is Luna."

"I am Soleil."

"I am Luna."

Both greeted the group with fluid, graceful movements.

Elsa, however, watched the two girls with a private sense of unease. Memories of that night surfaced—the sight of Jin embracing Reiko. Though Jin had denied any impropriety, she couldn't help but wonder if he harbored those specific... preferences.

Meanwhile, Beena was simply in awe.

"Wow, incredible. Soleil and Luna? I've never seen such exquisite golems before." She was genuinely surprised and impressed.

"Father, since the weather is so pleasant today, we have prepared tea for everyone outside," Soleil announced, while Luna opened the heavy front doors.

Jin nodded and led the group out into the sunlight.

"Whoa!"

Surprised voices rang out once again. Standing there in a neat line, wearing aprons, were the Five-Color Golem Maids: Ruby 100, Aqua 100, Topaz 100, Perido 100, and Amez 100.

"These are the Five-Color Golem Maids. From the right: Ruby, Aqua, Topaz, Perido, and Amez. I named them after their eye colors."

As Jin spoke, a thought crossed his mind: next time he gave them clothes, maybe he should color-code their outfits as well.

"Th-they're lovely maids," Beena said, her voice sounding a bit strained. Elsa also seemed to be recoiling slightly.

Even if they were golems, the fact that they were all female-type models made the two girls seriously concerned about Jin's proclivities.

"This way, please."

Amez 100 attended to Reinhard, Aqua 100 to Elsa, and Ruby 100 to Beena as the group took their seats around a circular table.

"It is humble tea, but please enjoy."

As Perido 100 served the group tea brewed from local leaves, Topaz 100 distributed Persica fruit.

"Hm? This tea tastes quite similar to the variety favored in the Klein Kingdom."

As expected of Reinhard; he hadn't traveled through various countries for nothing.

"Ah, Jin's Persica... I haven't had this in so long." Beena, for her part, was delighted. She happily tucked into the fruit, which had been perfectly chilled in a refrigerator.

As for Elsa, she sipped her tea thoughtfully. "Jin-kun, have you really been living here all alone this whole time?"

"Yeah, ever since my Master disappeared."

Since the previous Meister was already gone by the time Jin arrived on Hourai Island, it wasn't exactly a lie.

"Wasn't it lonely?"

Elsa's eyes were filled with concern as she asked.

"With Reiko and the others here, I don't really get lonely," he said.

Elsa’s worry deepened at the answer, but his next words offered a small mercy.

"But I did miss human company, which is why I went to places like Blue Land and Port Rock."

Upon hearing that, she felt a sense of relief, thinking there was still hope for him after all.

"Well, if you live in a place like this, it's no wonder you're a bit out of touch with common sense," Beena remarked, recalling their first meeting.

"Do you mostly spend your time making things like golems, Jin?" Reinhard asked, his interest remaining centered on magi craft.

Amidst the pleasant atmosphere, conversation flowed. Reinhard talked about magi craft, while Elsa asked about Jin's daily life. Beena expressed interest in the island itself.

Once they had finished their tea, Jin was about to stand up to give them a tour of the island and the Mansion, when Elsa spoke up.

"Jin-kun... where is the latrine?"

Realizing the situation instantly, Jin felt a prickle of embarrassment.

"S-sorry! Soleil, please guide her. Explain how to use it as well."

Jin gave Soleil the instructions. It was the only proper course of action; he certainly couldn't be the one to explain the mechanics of his bathroom to her.

"A-me too," Beena said, standing up as well. He asked Luna to accompany her.

"...Ah... I messed up."

Jin held his head in his hands once the two had left. During their journey, they had stopped the carriage roughly every two hours for short breaks. They must have taken care of their business then. He had been inconsiderate here, forcing the girls to be the ones to bring it up.

"Jin, don't worry about Elsa. She's always been like that," Reinhard said, trying to console him.

But Jin, feeling like he had failed miserably as a host, remained a little depressed. He recalled his training back on Earth, where he was taught that when hosting female guests, one should subtly point out the restroom early on.

Just then, a piercing cry echoed from the house.

"Eeeeeeeeeeeek?!"

"Ah, that was Beena. I figured they'd be surprised."

Jin's face settled into an expression of calm expectation. Reinhard, on the other hand, looked at him with mounting curiosity.

"Jin, that was Lady Beena's voice, wasn't it? What on earth happened? Since you aren't panicking, I assume this was within your expectations?"

Before Jin could answer, Elsa returned.

"...Jin-kun. That was amazing. I want one for my house."

Reinhard looked baffled. Then Beena rushed back, her face a mix of shock and excitement.

"Ji-ji-Jin! Wh-wh-what was with that toilet?! It's too incredible! It's beyond the level of a 'toilet'!"

"Calm down," Jin pointed out. "A girl shouldn't keep shouting 'toilet' like that."

Beena turned bright red and went silent.

Reinhard was still lost, so Elsa turned to him. "Rai-nii should go see for himself. It's amazing."

"Hm, is that so?"

Curiosity piqued, Reinhard followed Soleil's lead to see the facility for himself.

As expected, he came rushing back minutes later.

"Jin! That is revolutionary! I absolutely must introduce it to my home—no, to my country! Please, give us your cooperation!"

The toilets Jin had installed on Kunlun Island and Hourai Island were Western-style models. The bowl was carved from white quartz and fitted with a seat engraved with a Cleanup magi-formula. The surface had been treated with Surface Treatment to prevent anything from sticking, and it utilized a flush system powered by water magic.

Since there was no paper, he had designed it as a warm-water washing bidet seat. To anyone using it for the first time, the experience was bound to be vocal.

The drying was handled by a magical warm breeze, while waste was instantly reduced to dust via Decomposition. Furthermore, the room was kept perfectly odorless through Deodorant magic.

In this world, the standard for commoners was a hole in the ground, and for nobles, it was a chamber pot. It was only natural that all three of them were completely shell-shocked.
