Not long after our kiss ended, Lilia-san and I woke up... and just as she had declared, she managed to move herself to the sofa before promptly losing consciousness.
I couldn't help but give a wry smile at her state—practically falling back asleep the instant her eyes opened—but I took the chance to relax for a while. I woke her up just before our break was set to end, and we teleported back to the venue.
"Alright! Now that the break is over, it’s finally time for our last entertainment!"
"Um, the grand finale was the event planned by the representatives of the Human Realm, right?"
Since I’d already finished receiving my presents, I was free to enjoy the final show at my leisure. Still, I wondered what they had in store.
A game tournament, a live concert, a hidden talent show... the overall vibe of the party had trended toward high-energy entertainment that everyone could join in on.
"That’s right! And for our final act, we’re holding a Quiz Tournament!"
"Heh, a quiz, huh? They did one of those during the White God Festival too, but it’s definitely a good way for a large crowd to participate together."
A quiz, then. As Fate-san noted, the format allowed for massive participation.
"Now, before I explain the rules, I’ll distribute the answering tools. We’ll be using convenient God Power for this, so please hold out one hand with your palm facing up."
I did as I was told, and a long, thin wand appeared in my palm. It was about a foot long with four switches labeled one through four. I assumed I’d use them to submit my answers.
"The usage is pretty self-explanatory, but every question will be multiple-choice with four options. Just press the number you think is correct. The results will be tallied automatically, and the person with the highest score at the end wins. We’ve even prepared prizes for the top performers!"
"Does that mean there are quite a few questions?"
"We have five questions for each category: the Human Realm, the Demon Realm, the God Realm, and the Otherworld. On top of that, there are five high-difficulty questions worth double points. That’s twenty-five questions total, with a maximum possible score of thirty. By the way, the order is determined by a random draw."
"I see. I’ll probably know most of the God Realm questions, but I’m not so sure about the Demon or Otherworld ones. It seems like a good way to keep things balanced."
It sounded fair and actually quite fun. Even if I didn't know an answer, I had a twenty-five percent chance of guessing correctly.
In my case, my luck correction would probably force me to get the right answer if I just closed my eyes and picked at random. However, if I actually thought about it and answered, I could still get it wrong normally. It was nice knowing I wouldn't just win by default through pure luck.
"Just to be sure, Fate-san... are you participating?"
"Eh? No way. Too much work."
"I figured. In that case, I’ll put you in charge of the random selection. Here, you get to turn this Garapon lottery drum."
"Ehh... that sounds like more work than just answering the questions. I feel like I’ve been trapped. I’m really being made to work today, aren't I? Well, it’s for Kai-chan’s sake, so I guess I’ll pull through... Kai-chan! It’s me! Just calling out to you~!"
Fate-san smiled and waved at me. Honestly, how was she so cute? Seeing her wave so happily was, to put it bluntly, adorable. I gave her a small wave back.
"Well, the setup is simple enough. Let’s get started. Fate-san, if you would do the honors?"
"Okay~! Let’s see... it’s Otherworld 3."
"Otherworld 3 it is. Here is the question. The text and the choices will be displayed on the front stage, so check there if you miss anything. Here we go: What is the name of the home country of the Otherworlders, including Kaito-san, who have served as Hero-roles in the past? 1. Japan, 2. Wa, 3. Edo Japan, 4. America... You have three minutes to answer."
I see. This was a breeze for any Otherworlder, but it was likely a massive hurdle for the people of Trinia.
Many people here knew about the Otherworld cuisine called Japanese Food. If they assumed that Japanese food came from a country called Wa, they might pick option two. Others might recognize the word Japan but hesitate between options one and three, unsure if the name was formal or a shortened version.
And for those who had never heard the word Japan at all, they might just default to option four.
"...Alright, time’s up. The correct answer is number one: Japan. For your information, countries two and three don't actually exist. Number four, America, is a real country in the Otherworld, but it isn't where Kaito-san and the others are from. As for why all the Hero-roles hail from Japan, it’s because the First Hero, Hikari-san, was Japanese. After the Friendship Treaty, the Summoning Magic Circles were adjusted to target people from her home country who were roughly the same age she was at the time of her summoning."
So that was the mechanism behind it. That explained why every single person summoned as a Hero, past and present, was Japanese.
Serious-senpai: "Ah, I get it. Depending on the questions, this is a clever way to sneak in some promotion for tourist spots and local products across the Human Realm. And with Alice providing the commentary, everyone gets a nice education on the different realms and the Otherworld..."
