I warped from there straight to the Adventurer Guild.
The second floor could wait. Before heading back in, I needed to secure some medicine.
Roxanne insisted the second floor wouldn't be an issue, but I couldn't bring myself to trust her judgment when it relied on the nonsense logic that everything was fine as long as you didn't get hit.
I started by selling a few branches and Antidote Pills at the counter. Selling those items might make it obvious I’d just cleared a first-floor boss, but it shouldn't be a problem. If worst came to worst, I could always bluff and say I had a Herbalist in my party.
"Here you are."
The receptionist, a woman in her late twenties or early thirties, returned with the money on a tray. I accepted the payment and immediately swapped my active skill to 30% Discount.
"Do you sell any medicines here other than Antidote Pills?" I asked.
"Aside from disinfectants, we carry various healing medicines, fatigue recovery medicines, Softening Medicines, Anti-Paralysis Medicines, and Panaceas."
I assumed the healing medicine was for HP and the fatigue recovery medicine was for MP. That meant the Softening Medicine and Anti-Paralysis Medicine were for treating status ailments.
"How much are the Softening Medicine and Anti-Paralysis Medicine?"
"The Softening Pills and Anti-Paralysis Pills are both one hundred Nahl each."
"Then give me two of each—two Softening Pills and two Anti-Paralysis Pills."
I decided to grab two of each for the time being. I wasn't sure how many I’d actually need, so there was no point in buying in bulk.
"Understood."
The woman left her seat and returned a moment later. She placed two white pills and two yellow pills on the counter.
"These are them?"
"The white ones are the Softening Pills, and the yellow ones are the Anti-Paralysis Pills."
So they were color-coded. When I used Appraisal, they were correctly identified as Softening Pills and Anti-Paralysis Pills. Since I had Appraisal, there was no chance of a mistake.
As the name implied, the Anti-Paralysis Pill was for curing paralysis. But what about the Softening Pill? Medicine for when the body stiffened? I wondered if Petrification Magic actually existed in this world.
Since the receptionist didn't say anything further, I placed four silver coins on the counter. Counting "one, two, three, four," she pulled the silver coins toward her one by one, sliding a pill across the counter to me in return for each coin.
Despite my preparations, it seemed the 30% Discount wasn't going to trigger. When I’d bought things like hot water or lanterns, the discount worked as long as I bought multiple items. I was buying multiples this time, too. I wondered why it wasn't working.
"I'll take some healing medicine and fatigue recovery medicine, too," I said.
"The cheapest healing medicine is the Nourishing Pill at sixty Nahl, and the cheapest fatigue recovery medicine is the Tonic Pill, which is also sixty Nahl."
"Give me two Nourishing Pills and two Tonic Pills as well."
I decided to try buying them once more. It was better to have recovery medicine just in case. I didn't have a need for it yet, but you never knew what might happen.
The receptionist left her seat again and returned with the pills. They were blue and red. Appraisal confirmed that the blue ones were Nourishing Pills and the red ones were Tonic Pills. They were clearly distinguishable by color.
"Thank you. That will be sixty Nahl each."
"Understood."
It seemed the discount really didn't apply here, either.
"...I'm terribly sorry, but could you pay in copper coins instead?" she asked as I stood there, waiting with two silver coins and forty copper coins in hand.
