It was a surreal sight: a gathering of supreme beings, each capable of obliterating multiple worlds with a mere thought, all locked in a grave discussion regarding Kaito’s upcoming birthday.
Despite the peaceful subject, their expressions remained somber, and a heavy atmosphere filled the infinite white void.
“Last year, we were caught completely off guard, which resulted in a very improvised affair,” Shallow Vernal murmured quietly. “This time, however, we have an abundance of time. I intend to learn from our past shortcomings and ensure we have a foolproof plan.”
“Well, it was somewhat unavoidable,” Machina added lightly, offering a bit of support. “Even Fate, the youngest among us, is well over a hundred thousand years old. At our age, we simply don’t have the habit of tracking birthdays or passing years.”
When they had thrown Kaito’s previous birthday party, the preparations had been a mad scramble, starting only after Alice had disseminated the news. While Shallow Vernal and the others had technically known the date, the very concept of celebrating a birthday was foreign to them, so they had failed to act.
It was only later, when they realized that such milestones were deeply significant to humans, that regret set in. They wished they had been better prepared. To prevent a repeat of that oversight, this elite assembly had been convened two months in advance.
“To be fair, Kaito-san himself didn’t seem to think much of it back then, likely because he lost his parents so young,” Alice noted. “Our own reactions were simply too slow.”
“But he truly seemed to enjoy himself, didn't he?” Kuromueina added with a thoughtful nod. “He still treasures that painting Shaltier made for him. He even asked me to apply Status Preservation Magic to it so he could display it in his room. There’s no doubt that party is a precious memory for him.”
Kaito had indeed been moved by the celebration. The painting now sat in a sturdy frame, protected from the ravages of time by the Underworld King’s magic.
“We certainly have much to discuss, but perhaps we should start with the venue?” Canalis suggested. “I’m not entirely familiar with the local politics of Trinia, but I heard the last location caused quite a stir.”
“That is correct,” Shallow Vernal replied. “Holding it within the Kingdom of Sinfonia had a significant impact on the surrounding area.”
Fate nodded, looking somewhat overwhelmed by the company. As the lowest-ranking being in the room, she struggled to maintain her composure. Sensing this, Canalis offered a reassuring follow-up. “Oh, Fate-san? You don’t need to be so formal with me. In this capacity, I consider myself a subordinate of Kaito-sama.”
“...I see. Right. Yeah,” Fate replied, still slightly bewildered by the creator goddess’s humility. However, she decided it would be ruder to decline the offer and returned to her slightly more casual tone.
“Very well. Let’s begin by discussing the venue.”
“Holding it in the Human Realm or the Demon Realm will inevitably cause a scene,” Kuro mused. “What about the God Realm?”
“Kuro-rin, the God Realm might be problematic,” Fate countered. “If Shallow Vernal-sama descends anywhere outside her Sanctuary, it creates a different kind of chaos.”
They deliberated over the possibilities. Last year’s party had been held in a Sky Castle manifested hastily over the capital of Sinfonia, near Alice’s General Store. Since they had plenty of time now, they could be far more selective.
As she watched the debate, Machina spoke up nonchalantly.
“Why don’t we just build one?”
“Build what?” Alice asked.
“A world. Look at who is gathered here. Creating a new world is a trivial task. Surely we can manifest a Dedicated World solely for the purpose of hosting my beloved child’s birthday party?”
Alice paused, a look of exasperation crossing her face, but she quickly reconsidered. “My first instinct was to call that outrageous, but... it actually makes sense. It would prevent a repeat of the chaos we caused in the Kingdom of Sinfonia. Plus, it would give us a permanent venue for future celebrations.”
No matter where they held the event within Trinia, it would cause an uproar. Creating a venue in a completely separate dimension was a pragmatic solution. Since three of the beings present were veteran world-creators, manifesting a pocket dimension was child's play. They could simply seal the world away when it wasn't in use, eliminating any logistical headaches.
And so, because of the overwhelming power of the participants, a completely new world was commissioned—all for the sake of a single birthday party.
Serious-senpai: “I finally get why Kaito was lamenting in the narration last year, wishing he’d told them to keep things ‘normal-sized.’ Once you go through the trouble of building a custom dimension, you’re basically locked into holding every birthday there for the rest of time...”
