279. Urgent News

The Sun God and the Job God weren't the only ones eager to get involved in the dungeon-making; voices started clamoring from every direction. I had thought that since we didn't necessarily need just one Training Dungeon, they could each simply build their own... but that was likely a naive thought.

If every deity built one on a whim, the world would be crawling with dungeons. Plus, there was the inevitable dispute over the order of construction. Since Garna’s power was required for the process, they couldn't work on multiple projects simultaneously. I doubted these gods were capable of waiting their turn with any semblance of manners.

"How much longer is this going to go on? I’m hungry!" Shiroru complained.

"You're right. Is it okay if we head home now?" I agreed, catching Shiroru’s right forepaw as she rhythmically batted at my leg.

No matter how I looked at it, this conversation had nothing to do with us anymore. Halfa and Spira were off in their own world chatting, while Lowell stood at attention with his eyes squeezed shut. He wasn't... asleep, was he?

I was just about to call out to Ren-kun, who was watching the scene with an exasperated look, when the cacophony died down instantly.

"What's happening?" I whispered.

"A call came into the Sanctuary," Ren-kun replied in a low voice. "It might be an emergency."

My heart skipped a beat. Before I could ask for clarification, the Sun God spoke.

"What is the meaning of this?"

Her tone lacked its earlier playfulness, replaced by an air of absolute authority. That question wasn't directed at us; it was meant for whoever was calling out to the divine realm.

The image on the screen prepared by the Job God shifted. It showed the room we had occupied before entering the Sanctuary. A man was kneeling there—someone I recognized immediately. It was Rozeph-san, the Grand Master of the Adventurer’s Guild.

"The Vanguards of the Otherworld have been spotted!" he cried. "Reports are coming in from multiple regions almost simultaneously!"

The Vanguards of the Otherworld. In other words, the silver abominations were back.

This was no time to be leisurely discussing dungeon creation. Those things were a nightmare if not exterminated immediately because they spread their corruption to increase their numbers.

"Currently, there is no one capable of dealing with the Invaders from the Outer World as effectively as you," the Sun God said, turning to me. "Will you cooperate?"

"Of course!" I nodded without hesitation. I had no intention of becoming a god, but I still wanted to protect this world.

We immediately moved to Rozeph-san’s office to coordinate our response.

"It was said that everything would be left to you... but do you actually have a plan?" Rozeph-san asked, his face etched with anxiety.

The group in the room consisted of my party, Rozeph-san, Lang-san, and a man who appeared to be a secretary. Before the meeting officially started, several staff members had rushed in with follow-up reports. I wasn't sure what methods they used, but the Guild Headquarters was able to communicate with its distant branches in real-time. As details about the casualties and the types of abominations arrived, reports of new sightings poured in from other regions. Realizing they were getting nowhere, they had halted the influx of reports to prioritize the immediate response.

Under these circumstances, the gods had entrusted the counter-strategy to us. Given our appearance, I couldn't blame the Grand Master for finding us unreliable. However, no adventurers had as much experience fighting these abominations as we did. To put his mind at ease, I kept the conversation moving briskly.

"So far, the only confirmed sightings are the low-rank ones—the ones possessing monsters, right?"

"Indeed," Rozeph-san replied. "They match the descriptions frequently sent by the Rebvuer Adventurer's Guild. I heard you and your companions were the ones who defeated them, Master Tort."

"Yes. Though I'm not sure if we got every last one."

The silver abominations had first been reported in the Grassland Nation, specifically within the Rebvuer Guild, though I suspected the true source was the Eld Caldia Order in Albiroda.

At the time, there had only been a few reports, so it hadn't caused a major panic. Later, however, a revelation from the Sanctuary identified them as Invaders from the Outer World. Since then, the Guild Headquarters had put all branches on high alert.

Thanks to that, discovery and reporting were fast, but they hadn't yet developed a way to actually fight back.

Creatures infected by an abomination saw their wounds knit back together almost instantly. Worse, if they were damaged incorrectly, the silverization only accelerated. While it was possible to defeat one by shredding the host body faster than it could regenerate, the core abomination would simply escape to find a new vessel. That strategy only led to more victims.

"As things stand, we are helpless," Rozeph-san admitted. "We’ve ordered everyone to refrain from engaging upon discovery, but we’re forced to intercept them if they approach a city. Master Tort, how exactly did you defeat them?"

"Normal methods won't work. I have a specialized power—a Power of Purification—that can cause them to vanish."

"Is that so? But if that's the case, our response will be far too slow..." Rozeph-san’s expression turned grim.

He clearly thought the Power of Purification was something only I could use. Since the abominations had appeared in multiple places at once, it would take far too long for me to travel to every single location.

But he didn't need to worry. If I enchanted magic tools with my power, anyone could use them with ease.

I’d been quietly mass-producing abomination countermeasures for a while now, so I had a solid stockpile ready. Cleaning up those low-rank abomination soldiers would be a breeze!
