Interlude: The Three Girls' Retreat ②

In a hot spring inn overflowing with elements from another world, Lilia and her companions found themselves tilting their heads in confusion more often than not as they surveyed the contents of their room.

"I... I think it’s probably for the best if we don’t touch anything we don't recognize," Lilia suggested, her voice laced with uncertainty.

"I agree," Lunamaria said, nodding in support. "Next time, we should bring Miyama-sama, Yuzuki-sama, or Kusunoki-sama along so they can teach us. For now, we should stick to the magic tools we already have in our Magic Boxes, or at least only use the items here that we actually understand."

Lunamaria’s practical advice mirrored Lilia’s own anxiety. As they were currently inside a guest room, the chances of encountering anything truly dangerous were slim, but there was a significant risk of breaking something through improper use. These were, after all, gifts from the God of an Otherworld—items never before seen in Trinia. Since they couldn't even begin to guess the value of these objects, they concluded that reckless experimentation was a bad idea.

"In a way, this might be exactly how Kaito-san and the others felt when they first arrived in our world," Sieglinde murmured as she looked around the room of mysteries.

"True," Lilia agreed, her expression turning pensive. "The sensation of finding everything you see for the first time is quite unsettling. I thought I understood that Kaito-san and his friends had a difficult time after being suddenly brought to an Otherworld, but experiencing it firsthand like this makes me realize my understanding was far too naive."

Having decided to use only what they recognized and save the rest for later questions, the three of them finally settled onto the zabuton cushions Sieglinde had pointed out.

"Let’s start with a drink... This is tea, isn't it? Sieg, do you know what this is?" Lunamaria asked, gesturing to the items provided in the room.

"I believe it's a tea called Ryokucha," Sieglinde replied, already beginning the preparations. "My father received some from a friend once, so I know more or less how to brew it. I'll take care of it."

As Sieglinde worked, Lunamaria turned to Lilia. "Come to think of it, Lili, who prepares the tea and the rest of these items?"

"Eden-sama mentioned they are replenished automatically... Also, there is this 'operation display' that allows me to adjust various things in this world... Oh?"

While responding to Lunamaria, Lilia manifested the floating display that came with her authority as the owner of this private dimension. Among the various menu items, she noticed a new entry labeled 'Hot Spring Inn.'

Upon testing the interface, she discovered she could arrange meals, prepare the baths, and even order room cleaning with a simple touch. She was briefly awestruck by this product of divine power that defied all common sense, but her eyes truly lit up when she found a section titled 'Description of Magic Tools.'

"Luna! Sieg! Look at this! It seems Eden-sama has provided detailed explanations for the magic tools modeled after Otherworld mechanical products. This means we can finally understand how to use all these strange things!"

"Oh, she really has thought of everything. In that case, what about this thing on the table? Hmm... I see. There is hot water inside. It stores the liquid while maintaining the temperature... Is it a kind of Magic Box?"

"Perhaps a Magic Box dedicated solely to hot water?" Sieglinde suggested. "Regardless, let’s use it to brew our tea."

With the mystery solved, their options expanded instantly. Sieglinde began brewing the tea using the pot, while Lilia turned her attention to the television—the object Sieglinde hadn't recognized earlier.

"Ah, I see. This is the item Kaito-san and the others call a television. He mentioned it was similar to a video magic tool..."

"That technology has been developing rapidly here of late," Lunamaria noted. "To think it's already a household standard in the Otherworld..."

"According to Kaito-san, most families have at least one of these in their homes."

"Is that so?! As expected of his world... Lili, since the opportunity is here, let’s try it!"

Lunamaria’s curiosity was piqued, and once Sieglinde finished preparing the tea, the three of them gathered around. Consulting the manual, they used the remote control to operate the television.

"So these are images from the Otherworld... Their forms are different from Kaito-san’s. Is it a difference in race?"

"I recall being told that these record actual events, right? So there are monsters in the Otherworld as well."

"Wait, I heard something about this from Kuromueina-sama during our beach trip," Sieglinde added, her brow furrowed in concentration. "I believe she said there is another layer of the Otherworld called 2D, and that it operates under entirely different laws of reality..."

By pure chance, the television had been tuned to an anime broadcast. The three women watched the screen with intense fascination, utterly unaware that their misunderstandings about the nature of 2D media would later cause Kaito and his friends a great deal of trouble to explain... but that is a story for another time.

Serious-senpai: "Surprisingly, the support system for this place is actually solid."

Machina: "Of course it is! Who do you think I am?"

Serious-senpai: "The craziest person in the work..."
