A Mysterious Letter 5

As I sipped tea and chatted with Roze-san, the conversation eventually turned toward the Six Kings Dungeon we were currently in.

"So, Roze-san, you're the one in charge of managing this entire dungeon?"

(That's right! Roze is the Dungeon Master! Ahem!)

"That's impressive. I’ve only heard bits and pieces about it, but are there really copy golems of the Six Kings on every floor?"

(Ehehe, yep! That’s right. Originally, they were golems that looked exactly like the Six Kings-sama, but later on, Chrome-sama and Shaltier-sama decided to redesign them. So, you see, their abilities are modeled after the Six Kings-sama from a long time ago, but their appearances are quite different!)

"Oh, is that so? Wow, I’d actually love to see them."

Come to think of it, if they had gone for perfect recreations, someone as massive as Magnawell-san would have posed a significant logistical challenge, so it made sense that they had altered their appearances to some extent.

However, since Kuro and Alice were the ones who had handled the adjustments... I couldn't help but wonder what kind of designs they had come up with.

(Do you want to see them, Kaito-kun? I can show you! Want to go take a look? Shall we?)

"Is that really okay?"

(Uh-huh! It doesn't look like there are any challengers right now, so it’s perfectly fine. With Roze as your guide, it’ll be safe and sound. We can take our time!)

"That would be a huge help. I’ve been curious about them, so if you don’t mind, Roze-san, I’d love to go."

(Leave it to me! I could just summon a golem here, but since we're already here, let's go see them in person!)

With Roze-san offering to be my guide, she gave a little hop and perched back onto my shoulder. I drained the last of my black tea, stood up, and stepped outside the tower with her still hitched for the ride.

I wondered how we would get there, but then the ground suddenly pulsed before me, and a door rose out of the stone.

(I think starting from B1F is best. That's where Megiddo-sama’s golem stays. Oh, Kaito-kun, are you okay with heat? If you don't like it, I can lower the room's temperature for you.)

"I have Shiro-san's Blessing, so I'll be fine. Is the temperature inside that high?"

(Yep. It's about two thousand degrees.)

That was a staggering number. That was essentially the temperature of magma. Most people would probably be incinerated just by entering, but then again, I suppose anyone who couldn't withstand that level of heat wouldn't have the right to challenge the dungeon in the first place.

Even with Shiro-san's Blessing ensuring my safety, the thought of walking into a room heated to two thousand degrees was still a bit nerve-wracking.

I opened the door, tentatively checking to see if I could feel the heat, and stepped inside... only to find a scene straight out of hell.

Volcanoes erupted in every direction, and rivers of lava flowed through the craggy terrain. The entire place was engulfed in crimson flames; it looked absolutely scorching.

Thankfully, Shiro-san's Blessing was as powerful as ever. I was able to move through the area without the slightest discomfort.

"This is an incredible room."

(The name of the golem modeled after Megiddo-sama is the Volganic Beast. That’s why I designed the room to match!)

"Did you build this entire floor yourself, Roze-san?"

(I sure did! Roze built everything.)

"You really can do anything, can't you? It's truly amazing."

(Ehehe, I'm so happy Kaito-kun praised me! Oh, I’ll call the golem over now.)

The moment Roze-san spoke, a particularly massive volcano erupted nearby. A giant shadow leapt out from the heart of the fire pillar and slammed into the ground right in front of us.

It was a magical beast with striking red fur, taking Megiddo-san's form but making it more bestial and four-legged. Just one look told me it was absurdly powerful—it had the presence of a final boss.

"...What incredible pressure. So this is the golem modeled after Megiddo-san... Honestly, if you hadn't told me, I never would have guessed it was a golem."

(Chrome-sama and Shaltier-sama’s craftsmanship is incredible, so they can make them look exactly like living creatures. This Volganic Beast is all about power and speed! It doesn’t use any tricky attacks, but it crushes its opponents head-on with flame-clad strikes of overwhelming destructive force!)

"Ah, yeah... that definitely sounds like Megiddo-san. Since this is B1F, does that mean this golem handles all the challengers?"

From what I’d heard about the Six Kings Dungeon, no one had managed to breach B1F yet. This Volganic Beast must be the wall that had been crushing every single challenger so far.

(No, no. We rotate the order of the golems from B1F to B4F every now and then, so whoever is on the first floor changes depending on the day. However, Shaltier-sama’s golem on B5F and Chrome-sama and Ein-oneechan’s golems on the final B6F are always in the same place.)

"I see, so they're on a rotation... wait? Why is Alice's golem fixed, just like Kuro’s?"

(Shaltier-sama modified her own golem herself, and since it’s quite a bit stronger than the others, it stays put on its own floor.)

I see. So the golems for Megiddo-san, Magnawell-san, Lilliwood-san, and Isis-san—who were all relatively equal in strength—rotated through the first four floors.

That meant all four of those golems had plenty of combat experience against challengers. I was looking forward to seeing what the ones other than Megiddo-san’s looked like.

Serious-senpai (Truly at her limit): "...(Someone, anyone, please save me... seriously... she won't stop talking...)"
