The okonomiyaki had been exactly what I expected. There wasn't any weird sense of artificial luxury or special "otherworld" twists added to it.
For me, it was just a normally delicious meal, but since it was Sieg-san's first time trying it, she seemed to savor every bite with genuine curiosity.
Once we finished eating, we set off as planned to find some clothes. Since neither of us had ever been to this city before, we decided to just browse the shops we found along the way.
This place clearly put a lot of effort into tourism, likely because of the famous monster races. There were plenty of souvenir shops, and the sheer number of stores was impressive.
"It's quite lively here. I suppose it really is a popular tourist destination," I remarked.
"The monster races are a big draw, so there are many souvenirs... or rather, items related to monsters," Sieg-san replied.
Taking a look around at her suggestion, I realized she was right. Monster-related goods were everywhere, including plushies.
I wondered if there were any plushies of Bell or Rin... well, there was no way they'd have them, but I would've bought one in a heartbeat if they did.
Lost in thought, we eventually stumbled upon a clothing store and headed inside.
"Hmm... I can't decide," Sieg-san murmured.
"Nothing catching your eye?"
"No, it’s not that. I just don't have many opportunities to wear outerwear, so I'm not sure what would be best. What do you think, Kaito-san?"
"Me? Uh..."
It was true that Sieg-san rarely wore coats or jackets, so figuring out what would look good on her was a challenge. I scanned the racks at her request, but nothing immediately stood out as the perfect choice.
I was sure she’d look good in just about anything, which only made picking one harder.
"Nothing is really jumping out at me," I admitted. "If you're going to wear it, maybe something in a brighter color would be better?"
"True, everything here is a bit dark... Oh, wait. Look at this."
"Find something you like?"
"No, I just thought it looked a lot like the one you're wearing, Kaito-san."
She showed me a hooded parka. Sure enough, it bore a striking resemblance to my own signature attire. It had a sleeker fit since it was designed for women, but the color and the hood were almost identical.
"Wow, you're right. It's very similar."
"...Maybe I'll get this one. See? It would be like we're wearing a pair look. I think that would be nice."
"Oh, I see... Yeah, that sounds great."
A "pair look"—the quintessential couple's move. It was a little embarrassing, but the idea definitely appealed to me.
Since we hadn't found anything else, she decided on the parka, purchased it immediately, and put it on.
"What do you think?" she asked.
"It looks great on you. I wasn't sure when you were just holding it, but seeing you actually wear it... yeah, it really suits you. You look beautiful."
"Th-Thank you. I'm glad to hear that."
With the parka matching mine, Sieg-san looked like a perfect blend of mature and cute. It was a fantastic look for her.
Serious-senpai: "Come to think of it, is this the first time a couple has done a pair look in this series?"
???: "Technically, Anima-san and the others had matching outfits during the Six Kings Festival, but those were minor change versions, so they were slightly different. This might be the first true one."
