Garden of Myriad Flowers 11

As I sat beside Rosmiel-san, gazing out over the flower fields, she suddenly began to sing. She must have remembered our earlier conversation and decided to perform for me.

I had thought so back during the Harmonic Symphony, but Rosmiel-san's singing was truly magnificent. This time, however, it wasn't the grand, commanding voice she had displayed then; it was a calm, soothing melody that radiated gentleness.

Her clear, beautiful voice echoed through the fields, and I closed my eyes to listen. It had the atmosphere of a folk song, one that felt perfectly suited to a setting like this.

The resonance of her voice, the fragrance of the flowers, and the mild breeze all combined to make me feel pleasantly drowsy. It was a fairly long song, and my eyelids gradually grew heavy.

I knew I should stay awake and listen properly since she was going through the effort of singing for me, but the lullaby-like gentle melody caused my consciousness to drift further and further away.

I tried to force my eyes open and stay focused, but at that exact moment, my body was suddenly pulled to the side. Caught off guard, I was unable to resist the force. I toppled over, and my head landed perfectly in Rosmiel-san’s lap.

Wait, what just happened? We were sitting quite close a moment ago, but for my head to land exactly on her lap as I fell... had she moved while singing?

Before I could wonder about her intentions, I looked up at her. Rosmiel-san smiled softly while continuing her song and placed her hand over my eyes to cover them.

It felt as though she were telling me it was okay to sleep. Between her resonating voice, the warmth of her hand, and the scent of roses clinging to her... once I gave myself permission to drift off, an irresistible wave of drowsiness washed over me.

In the end, I succumbed to it, falling into a deep sleep while feeling the soft warmth beneath my head.

Once she was certain that Kaito was fast asleep, Rosmiel stopped singing.

"...I ended up dragging you around today because of my own selfishness, didn't I? You must be exhausted. I got so excited that I lost my head... I really should reflect on that."

She had originally intended to simply share tea and talk, treating him to a relaxing time as thanks for all his help. However, things hadn't gone as planned from the start, as she had been the one to receive a wonderful teacup as a gift.

The same had been true when she guided him through the basement art exhibition. She had been so delighted that Kaito showed an interest in the things she loved that she had gone into far too much detail with her explanations.

"I suppose I'm just not used to regular conversation. Whenever I'm with someone I feel I can open up to, I end up talking too much."

Rosmiel suffered from extreme shyness and had very few people she could talk to normally. Her circle of close friends was remarkably small. Because of that, she had a tendency to become quite talkative with the few people she considered herself close to—namely, Camellia and Kaito.

Of course, Camellia and Kaito didn't mind, but Rosmiel herself often worried that she was being overbearing.

The fact that she could behave this way around Kaito was proof of just how much she trusted him and had opened her heart to him, even though they had only known each other for a short time.

"Maybe I was too forceful about making him paint, too? Kaito-kun is kind, and he seemed to be enjoying himself, but he was clearly nervous at first... I just can't help wanting to share the things I like with the people I care about."

The time she had spent painting with Kaito had been genuinely fun, and the hours had flown by in an instant. Perhaps their personalities were simply a perfect match; for the shy Rosmiel, it was extremely rare to find someone like Kaito—someone so easy to talk to that being with him was entirely stress-free.

She gently stroked Kaito's hair as he slept on her lap, then looked out at the flower fields stretching toward the horizon.

"I think they look even more beautiful than usual today... Fufu, it's all thanks to you, Kaito-kun."

The smile on Rosmiel’s face was soft, serene, and full of genuine joy.

Serious-senpai: "...Whew... Haah... It—It's over... Finally, the Sugar Chapter has passed!"

???: (...Is the next one a Sugar Chapter, I wonder?)
