After hearing my response, Isis-san nodded and turned her gaze toward Iris-san.
"It is good magic... the formula is beautiful too... but I think... it is a bit... slow."
"I did not flatter myself into thinking I could defeat you... but to think you wouldn’t even bother to defend... but I am not finished! Come! Spear of Eternal Darkness, Great Legions! Demons Lances!"
Iris-san looked frustrated that her finishing blow hadn't even managed to smudge Isis-san's clothes, but she immediately switched gears. She manifested a massive number of spears in the air and launched them.
A volley of spears—easily numbering more than a hundred by my estimation—flew toward Isis-san... and completely vanished before they could even touch her body.
"What...?"
"They disappeared?"
The enormous number of spears had vanished in an instant. Iris-san’s eyes widened in shock, and I tilted my head in confusion, unable to comprehend what had happened.
"If you only knew that she can't control her Magic Power of Death, you might assume that Isis-san is poor at magic control... but her magic control techniques are actually world-class. It’s just that the Magic Power of Death she produces is so strong it defies even her control. Interfering with incoming spells and dismantling them from the outside, or returning them to harmless raw magic power, is a walk in the park for her."
I was astonished by Alice's explanation. In other words, Isis-san had instantly canceled over a hundred spells approaching at high speed and reverted them back into raw mana. That meant...
"Iris and Kaito-san have probably realized it by now, right? Isis-san basically nullifies almost all magic attacks. Unless you use your head, you won't even be able to make her move to defend."
"Good grief, it is as if my very common sense is being overturned. They are truly outrageous, these Six Kings. If that is the case, how about this!"
As Iris-san shouted, she pressed her hands against the ground. The earth moved like waves, forming a massive spear of soil that flew toward Isis-san.
I see. If she can nullify magic, then solid earth shaped by magic shouldn't disappear even if the spell itself was canceled. I thought that was a clever move, but Alice's voice rang out immediately after.
"Well, that's a method anyone would think of. That’s exactly why it’s pointless, though..."
Following those words, the earth spear passed through Isis-san's body without any resistance at all.
"A power similar to phasing? Did she nullify the physical attack by doing that? But... this is..."
"Well, I guess that's about it. Once you get to the highest-ranking Count-class, there are plenty of opponents who can nullify both physical and magical attacks, so I'll teach you how to break through those later. Well, setting that aside, let's change things up a bit... Isis-san."
"Yes?"
"Next, please dodge. No magic nullification, just evasion. Iris, try to land even a single hit on Isis-san."
"Understood."
I wondered how this would go. Personally, I didn't have the image of Isis-san being particularly fast. Perhaps because she mainly fought using magic, she felt more like a defensive type rather than an evasive one. Still, being one of the Six Kings, was her evasion also superior?
While I was thinking about that, Iris-san pointed her hand toward the sky, and an enormous magic circle appeared.
"Calamity Doombringer!"
It was a torrent of swords that filled my entire field of vision—a wide-area homing spell. The moment they were fired, Isis-san, who had been in my sight, began to move at a terrifying speed.
"Wha—!? Wait, where did she go? Over there?"
Even with these glasses that allowed me to perceive things at some incomprehensible speed like ten times the speed of light, I almost lost track of her. Isis-san weaved through the massive number of swords with ease.
She even had enough composure to look my way and wave with a smile in the middle of it. She was adorable—no, she was unbelievable.
"A-Alice... Is Isis-san always that fast?"
"Eh? No, she isn't being serious at all. She's just lightly running. She isn't using teleportation or time manipulation either. Well, she's using a few countermeasure formulas so the impact of her movement doesn't destroy the world, though."
"Iris-san's basic specs are about the same as the Six Kings, right? So, can Iris-san do that too?"
"Actually, if she could fully master her body, Iris should be faster. My body was the base, and I'm the second fastest among the Six Kings after Kuro-san. To put it simply, Iris's movements are just too wasteful right now."
Honestly, I might have been underestimating the Six Kings. I knew they were incredible people, but they were on a completely different level of strength.
Isis-san continued to evade the attacks for about ten minutes. Just as Iris-san began to grow slightly out of breath, Alice spoke up.
"Okay, let's stop there for a moment. This time, let's swap offense and defense. Isis-san will attack, and Iris will defend. Isis-san, please start with physical attacks."
"Hmm? No, no matter how I look at her, Isis-dono does not seem like the type to specialize in physical combat."
"Yes... I am bad at it... but... I will try my best."
I wasn't sure what to think. Isis-san definitely seemed like a mage type, but based on how things had gone so far, it probably wasn't that simple.
Iris-san deployed a circular barrier so dense it was visible to the naked eye. It was the same tremendous defensive barrier that had completely blocked Agni-san's attacks. It looked incredibly solid.
The next moment, Isis-san moved soundlessly in front of Iris-san and swung her fist. To an amateur's eye, it was just a random punch from someone unaccustomed to fighting... yet Iris-san leaped back with a panicked expression, leaving the barrier behind.
Isis-san’s fist touched the barrier and pierced through it as if it were paper, creating a giant crater in the ground.
"Wha—!?"
"Heeey, Iris. You’re getting distracted. You can't let your guard down even for a split second. It’s true that Isis-san is better at magical combat than physical combat. But she is still strong enough to beat Agni-san—the one you fought before—to death with her bare hands."
"Wh-Wh-Wha... what is that!? There is a limit to such absurdity! Or rather, isn't the gap in combat power between a Count-class and a Six King far too vast!?"
"That’s why Ein-san is still the only Duke-class in existence. Including Kuro-san, the Six King-class entities have such isolated power that they feel like bugs in the world's design. I don't have proof, but Alice-chan suspects the God of this world did something to them. So, well—give it your all as if your life depends on it."
Despite their basic physical specs supposedly being similar, their actual combat prowess was leagues apart. I felt a massive wall between the two that couldn't be easily overcome.
This was Isis-san’s—the King’s power.
Serious-senpai: "Wait, isn't Isis just too strong in every category?"
???: "Well, think about it. She’s capable of dueling an immortal God who has infinite health and an endless army—someone who can't even die."
Serious-senpai: "True, the Supreme Gods are also total monsters..."
???: "If the God of Space-Time gets serious, she’ll hit you with a space annihilation via an unblockable authority at a speed you can't even detect unless you have that same authority. And the God of Fate? Her domain covers the entire world. Everything inside it is under her thumb. She can rewrite the past and determine the future at will. She's a cheat character through and through."
Serious-senpai: "I'm just glad this didn't turn into a Battle Route."
