My name was... oops, my name was Seel.
I was a male beastman from the Village of the Great Tree.
Alongside Gol and Bron, who were also beastmen from the same village, I had enrolled in the Galgard Noble Academy as a student.
A variety of things happened, and now all three of us were working as teachers.
I tried not to sweat the small details.
The subject we were in charge of was Lifestyle.
We didn't teach the entire student body; our classes were only for those who specifically requested to take them.
We taught skills like construction, agriculture, hunting, fishing, and cooking.
However, the three of us weren't enough to handle everyone.
Therefore, we asked for help from students who already possessed some knowledge.
"Behold the strength of my lineage!" (Translation: My family are minor village lords, so I've helped build houses before.)
"The scent of the soil... it is not entirely disagreeable." (Translation: Is it really all right for me to start a farm?)
"To ask me to go racing through the mountains and fields... how amusing." (Translation: Leave the hunting to me.)
"Do not address me, you insolent fool. ...Though, I will admit the craftsmanship of that rod is exquisite." (Translation: I am still a novice, but... if it is fishing, I can help.)
"Don't say such stupid things. If you open your mouth again, I’ll skin you." (Translation: My family home doesn't have maids or anything, so I had to do the cooking myself or I'd have nothing to eat.)
Despite this being a noble academy, we found more collaborators than I expected.
It seemed that even among nobles, not everyone was wealthy.
Apparently, some nobles lived lives very similar to their own subjects.
Because of that, their practical knowledge was perhaps even more solid than ours.
They were reliable.
They were reliable, but... were they actually attending their other classes?
I felt like they were always hanging around our area.
Even if they told me it was because they felt comfortable here, wouldn't they get in trouble if they didn't study their proper noble lessons?
Our classroom was not located inside the school building.
This wasn't because we were being bullied, but simply because we didn't use it.
We rented land near our house from the academy and conducted our classes there.
Looking at the scenery, with houses being built, fields being tilled, and food being cooked, it looked just like the scenes I often saw back in the village.
Even though only a few months had passed, I felt nostalgic.
Come to think of it, Uncle Beezel promised to take us back to the village around the time of the Martial Arts Tournament.
I was looking forward to it.
While I had grown used to the classes here, there were a few problems.
The first was the rain.
We would end up having the class inside the houses we built, but the activities we could do became extremely limited.
So, when it rained, everything except the cooking-related lessons was canceled.
I personally followed the Village Head’s example and worked on making small handicrafts, but I wasn't at a level where I could show them to anyone yet.
Next were the club activities.
Our original activities had turned into club activities, which then turned into our actual classes.
However, the club activities still remained as a separate entity.
"I believe there are birds in this world who would choose to stay inside their cages." (Translation: You don't make dinner during the actual classes, right? Please keep the club activities going for the sake of my dinner.)
That was the reason the club activities persisted.
It wasn't really a problem that they still existed, right?
The problem was the number of people.
Currently, the number of students who came for the classes was around forty in total for the three of us.
But the number of those who showed up for the club activities was about sixty.
The population density was higher after class was over.
To be fair, this was much better than it had been for a while.
That was because the food in the dormitories had improved.
At one point, nearly two hundred people had been gathering for the club activities.
It had gotten better, but since most of the students who came for the classes stayed behind to join the club, there were still about a hundred people gathered by nightfall.
"The flowers seen at night are also a beautiful thing, are they not?" (Translation: It looks like a grand gala every night; is your budget going to be okay?)
Because of how it looked, people sometimes worried about us like that.
The final problem was that money.
I called it a problem, but our actual funds were fine.
We still had the money we received from the Village Head, and we had established contact with Uncle Michael's Goroun Company.
Wait, I didn't mean that we received pocket money from Uncle Michael.
We were simply having the Goroun Company buy the materials from the monsters and magic beasts we hunted in the forest to the north of the academy.
This allowed us to earn a decent amount of profit.
Other companies would buy them too, but since Uncle Galf told us to only sell to places we could trust, we only dealt with the Goroun Company.
With the Goroun Company, there wouldn't be any issues.
However, I never imagined the Goroun Company was actually that massive.
It really surprised me.
Also, I felt like I had done something a bit mean to the Academy Director.
Next time, I should bring him some of the cakes we made as a gift.
Yeah, I really wanted him to stop grumbling and bringing that incident up every time he saw me.
Returning to the topic of money, to put it simply, the issue was the accounting.
It would have been fine if it were just the money we originally had and the money we earned by selling materials, but since we were working as teachers, we were receiving a Monthly Salary, Class Preparation Funds, Donations from students' families, and even tips from merchants in the Royal Capital. All of that made formal accounting essential.
In particular, the Class Preparation Funds were difficult because we had to document their usage clearly.
I felt sorry for making Bron handle all of it.
And also, he shouldn't be getting so lovey-dovey with the administrative staff lady.
I was jealous.
What?
You're saying I have girls too?
I do, but... when I'm with those three, for some reason I feel like a small animal being hunted by predators. It's a bit terrifying.
Yeah, getting lovey-dovey is just out of the question for me.
In that regard, I was envious of Bron.
Gol was also getting along quite well with Lady Enderi.
...
When I returned to the village, I would have to ask the Village Head for advice on how to handle women.
Well then.
There were problems, but they weren't enough to make me despair.
There were minor troubles, but we were managing to clear them somehow.
There were no issues with the finances either, so things were probably going smoothly.
The only thing that bothered me... was one thing.
Before we headed to the academy, the Village Head told us to go and learn about city life, but wasn't it strange that we were the ones doing the teaching?
The city life the Village Head spoke of and the lifestyle we were teaching were probably different things, though.
Well, it couldn't be helped even if I brooded over it.
What will be, will be.
I had to work hard today as well.
"Then, we will begin today's class."
At my declaration, the waiting students picked up their weapons.
They weren't tools for hunting or fishing.
They were weapons for combat.
These were also for the sake of the class.
I forgot to mention it, but recently, we had also been teaching combat in our Lifestyle classes.
Did combat really fall under the category of Lifestyle?
That was a question that wasn't just a small detail.
However, the Academy Director had given his permission.
There were also plenty of students who wished for it.
I suppose I shouldn't overthink it.
For the record, I did try to resist the Academy Director's suggestion.
"Is this not truly like a bird trying to flap its wings in the middle of a gale?" (Translation: We aren't strong enough to be teaching people how to fight, are we?)
He just laughed at me.
Afterward, he told me to teach without worrying about it.
Hmm.
Well, if they said they wanted to be taught, I wouldn't refuse.
I would do my best.
But I really wished people other than the academy students would stop participating.
And also, I was a bit troubled by the participation of actual military personnel.
Uncle Gratz, please stop slacking off and coming here.
