I set out across the world to begin an investigation.
I couldn't help but hope that the reports of the death of the Saviors were some kind of mistake.
It wasn't that I doubted the integrity of the Spy Information Network, but the news was simply too far-fetched to believe.
However, the truth was soon made plain.
Of those who had recently proclaimed themselves Saviors, not a single one remained among the living.
There were no signs of fabrication; they had truly perished.
The Savior’s Cause of Death varied from case to case.
To start, there were reports of death in battle or from illness. These I could accept.
While the simultaneous nature of it all felt off, the deaths themselves appeared natural.
Given the current state of global affairs and the fragility of human health, there was nothing explicitly suspicious about them.
The real point of concern lay in the other causes of death.
Accidental death was the most common, and the specific circumstances were deeply troubling.
Simply listing the cases was enough to give me a headache.
One had fallen from the second floor of an inn and broken their neck.
Another was walking through town when a falling vase struck them in the head, killing them instantly.
One tripped over a pebble and was promptly crushed under the wheels of a passing carriage.
A Savior compounding medicine was blown to pieces by an inexplicable explosion.
One was struck by a bolt of natural lightning.
Another fell into a pit trap dug by a child, choking to death on the soil.
Every instance was a trivial, highly coincidental accident.
Normally, such events would be dismissed as mere misfortune, but these freak occurrences accounted for eighty percent of the Savior’s Cause of Death.
This was far too significant to ignore.
Therefore, I personally investigated the scenes of these accidents.
However, I found no traces of suspicious magic or Special Abilities; the theory of assassination was dead.
In other words, they were genuine accidents.
Such improbable tragedies had befallen only the Saviors, occurring simultaneously across the globe.
Frankly, it was absurd.
I wanted to believe it was a tasteless joke.
But the facts were undeniable.
Without a doubt, the Will of the World had manifested.
There was no other explanation.
While this event was the polar opposite of a Miracle, the two shared a core trait: they both forced the impossible to happen.
(Just what is its objective?)
Back in my room, I consulted the documents I had gathered from various regions.
The Will of the World is forged from the collective desires of humanity.
Those wishing for the Sudden Death of the Savior were surely a minority.
The vast majority of people viewed their actions with hope.
When comparing the weight of these sentiments, the Rampage of the Will of the World should never have occurred.
This is because, fundamentally, the wishes of the majority take precedence.
It would be one thing if a Savior awakened to a powerful ability to eliminate me.
But for every single one of them to drop dead simultaneously was a gross anomaly.
It was an utterly inexplicable phenomenon.
This unprecedented situation was plunging the world into chaos.
The timing couldn't have been worse, as the Savior’s Influence was at its peak.
With this string of fatal accidents occurring now, damage was being inflicted on every front.
The Demon King’s Army had adjusted its strategies to account for the rising number of Saviors, but this development had rendered all those preparations meaningless.
This time, a Flaw of the Will of the World had been exposed.
It was meant to manifest the desires of the people, yet through some unknown mechanism, it had produced the worst possible outcome.
In the end, no one gained anything from this.
(Is this perhaps a precursor to something else?)
I clutched my head while staring at the list of the Savior’s Cause of Death.
Countless theories crossed my mind, but none offered a clear answer.
For the time being, I must continue the investigation.
I have a terrible premonition about this.
I don't feel like the Rampage of the Will of the World will end with this alone.
