Now... my wifey was "Pirate Hunter Veronica."
To put it simply, those guys were as good as dead.
She was practically vibrating with excitement, hopping from foot to foot.
Yeah, yeah, I got it.
"Leo Kamishiro! Sorting out!!!"
And so, we prepared for departure at the spaceport.
Bombardment rained down relentlessly from above.
"Lord Groom. The enemy is the Planet Sato Branch ZZ Local Governor, Sato Judo."
"Hmm?"
Sato Judo.
That name rang a bell.
Let's see... right, he was the guy who stood in the protagonist's way in the Revolution Route.
He was the freaking Last Boss!
So in the end, the Sato family was going to be taken over anyway.
Wait, though.
I remembered the boss of the Revolution Route being incredibly strong.
If I recalled correctly... he had a Planet-class Fortress.
"Fairy, is it possible House Sato possesses a Planet-class Fortress?"
"Hmm? Let me check~. Yep, they've definitely got one~."
I opened a communication channel to everyone.
"Hey, everyone... bad news. Turns out House Sato actually has a Planet-class Fortress. I’m guessing they’re acting so cocky because they managed to haul that thing out."
"Ah... well, Lord Groom. What shall we do?"
"Say, Lord Groom. Why do you have such a look on your face?"
Ah, right.
I truly had a blank expression.
"I mean, compared to the simulators, this isn't exactly a hellscape. Right, guys?"
"True. At this level, it feels like we’ve still got plenty of breathing room."
Melissa was genuinely relaxed.
"Lord Groom, what should we do for dinner? Shall I prepare a meat dish?"
Ren also maintained a composed expression as she calibrated the targeting for her Sniper Custom Machine.
She was already more worried about dinner than the battle.
Even Kevin was casual enough to be running tests on his drones.
Familiarity is a scary thing.
While we were acting far too casual, a transmission came in from Wifey's warship. It was Piggett.
"...I heard the opponent has prepared a Planet-class Warship... Lord Groom, are you truly alright? It seems it hasn't even been confirmed yet, though."
It was at that moment.
My intuition kicked in.
"It's coming."
The moment I muttered that, I heard the panicked voices of the soldiers.
The transmission came from the Marquis Army scouts.
"U-Unidentified warship confirmed!!! P-Planet-class!!! U-uwaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
The transmission cut off.
"I get the screaming, but... isn't it a bit odd that they didn't spot a Planet-class Warship until just now?"
"They're likely in cahoots... I suppose."
Piggett let out a deep sigh.
"So much for the Marquis Army... I've suspected it for a while, but you really do have rotten luck, Lord Groom! Aside from the part where you don't die, anyway!"
Wifey scolded me.
That was the thing.
It wasn't that I was lucky.
I just had a habit of attracting weird things.
"Lord Groom. ...Do you intend to win?"
"I think we can."
"Understood! Set sail!!!"
Wifey's warship soared toward the sky.
A volley of fire from Plasma Rifles and Plasma Cannons rained down from above.
The spaceport staff screamed every time a shot landed nearby.
But honestly, it wasn't even enough to threaten us.
They were too far away to pierce the armor of Wifey's battleship.
That's no good. If you're serious about killing us, you have to get closer.
You couldn't even clear a solo run in the simulator playing like that.
"Y-You lot! What are you thinking?!"
A transmission came in from the enemy.
"What else? We're heading up into the sky to beat the crap out of you."
I answered bluntly without thinking.
Then, the opponent flew into a rage.
"W-Why?! Why do you not fear?!"
"I mean, this isn't nearly as life-threatening as being surrounded by Linear Blazers. Oh, we’ve hit outer space. Hey, hey, we’re coming to punch you now."
End of transmission.
We sorted out in our humanoid fighters.
First, I feinted with my rifle... before charging in with my shield and sword.
Only Tatiana, who didn't have a license, was left behind to handle chores on the ship.
"Fuhahahaha!!! I can see it! I can see it all!"
This wasn't the simulator.
Perhaps because of the genuine killing intent, I didn't feel like any beams or missiles would hit me.
In fact, the boys were even attempting a Beam Parry, something that was difficult even in the simulator.
It was a technique where, instead of catching the beam fully with the shield, you tilted it to dissipate the energy.
If done well, you could even reflect the beam.
Just like this! Hyah!!!
With a boom, the humanoid fighter next to the enemy that fired the beam exploded.
"Ahahaha! I can't do that since I don't use a shield, but it looks like fun! Ahahaha! Here I go!!!"
Melissa moved forward with the casual air of someone heading out for a stroll in the park.
The Marquis Army fired a volley at Melissa's machine, but nothing hit.
"Ahahahahahaha!"
The enemies were cut in two with single strikes.
I guess I'll go too.
I charged in with the standard equipment of a sword and shield.
Since the opponent wasn't a Zork, the sword was a Plasma Blade.
My machine, Massacre Night, had incredibly peaky performance.
It was tuned right to the edge of human response limits.
Whoever designed this thing was a total moron!
But it was just right for me.
I dodged the volleys with minimal movement.
To those fools in the Marquis Army, it must have looked like I was charging straight ahead.
"U-Uwa, I surrend—..."
Slash.
The machine I cut in two exploded.
I couldn't exactly stop when they waited until the very last second to say it.
I had been wondering if these guys were really from the Marquis Army, but given this weakness... were they actually pirates?
We were trampling the enemy.
I wasn't doing anything intentionally cruel.
In fact, having spent so much time in the simulator, I knew there was no room for such leisure.
I simply annihilated them with the minimum amount of time and effort.
The enemy warship came into view.
It wasn't Planet-class. Just an ordinary warship. An old model. Outdated surplus from a Marquis Territory. ...Definitely pirates.
"W-Wait! We surrender! We give up! Stop!!!"
A transmission came in, but it was too late.
At that exact moment, Ren's sniper shot had already been fired.
Ren's sniper rifle was terrifyingly accurate.
Accurate enough to pierce right through the warship's weak points.
The moment I wondered whether I should stop her, the warship exploded. Oops.
"A-Are you lot monsters?!"
Yet another transmission from old man Sato Judo.
It was their fault for being so slow to surrender.
They only started begging for their lives after their destruction was a mathematical certainty.
It was way too late for me to save them then.
