This update serves as a guide for the major characters who have appeared thus far, rather than a new chapter.
While it provides deeper insights into details mentioned in the story and introduces some new lore, skipping this will not hinder your understanding of the upcoming plot. If you'd prefer to stay focused on the narrative, feel free to pass this by.
As with the first set of introductions, this reflects the status of the world as of the end of Chapter Five. Please be mindful of potential spoilers.
Shion Nasturtium
Gender: Female Age: 19 (Born May, Four Holy Era Year 610) Appearance: Radiant, silken silver hair and amber eyes. Standing 158cm tall with a slender build. Affiliation: Amunzaas Ability: 【Time Rewind】 — The power to reverse time for any chosen target. Alias: White Demon
Summary: The Atavism of the "Witch" and the eldest daughter of the Nasturtium House, the family that effectively governs the Hitia Duchy.
From a young age, she was pressured to fulfill her role as the Witch’s successor, nearly losing her sense of self to the expectations of others. It was only when Orun told her that she was her own person, distinct from the legendary Witch, that she finally established her own identity.
Grateful and seeking a way to repay him, Shion learned of Orun’s struggle against the Cult and decided to fight at his side. She enrolled in the academy to further her magical education. Her time there was relatively peaceful, though she famously flew into a rage and thrashed her younger sister, Rain, for mocking Teruche—the woman who had served as Shion's devoted attendant and surrogate sister since childhood.
When news reached her that Orun and his companions had been killed by the Cyclamen Cult, she fell into a deep depression. However, bolstered by Teruche’s support, she eventually found the strength to carry on, vowing to "realize the world Orun dreamed of."
She later achieved the impossible by assimilating a Seirei Eye into her own right eye. This granted her a pseudo-form of 【Seirei Command】, allowing her to perceive Seirei, manipulate Ice Seirei, and communicate with fairies. When Fuuka and Haruto sought asylum in the Hitia Duchy years ago, Shion formed a deep bond with Fuuka, and the two remain best friends.
Following graduation, she spent her days in bloody skirmishes with the Cult and high-stakes duels against powerful Explorers to stall their progress in the Great Labyrinth. These battles allowed her to amass staggering combat experience. Currently, having learned that Orun is alive, she has ordered Amunzaas to cease their attacks on Explorers for the time being.
During the battle with Majin Due in Chapter Five, Shion adapted to the creature's 【Mana-eater】 trait, ascending beyond the principles of magic to become a Transcendent. In combat, she uses her ability to bypass spell construction entirely, allowing for instantaneous casting. She is a master of wide-area annihilation using Ice-type magic and is unmatched in mid-to-long-range engagements. Even in close quarters, her proficiency with daggermanship rivals the front-line fighters of S-Rank parties.
As a Transcendent, she can now manifest a spell akin to stopping time, allowing her to rain down magical attacks on helpless opponents. Because she leaves a frozen, silvery wasteland in her wake, she earned the alias "White Demon"—a title born from the legend of the "Silver Witch" and the blizzard-like devastation she brings.
Teruche Hagwell
Gender: Female Age: 26 (Born July, Four Holy Era Year 603) Appearance: Black hair and sky-blue eyes. 160cm tall with a slender frame. Affiliation: Amunzaas Ability: 【Magic Thread Manipulation】 — The ability to weave and control mana as though it were fine silk. Alias: None
Summary: A brilliant woman who excelled in every field she touched—save for magic. Because her raw magical talent was inferior to that of her younger sister, Rain, she was treated with cold contempt by her parents, who were strict magic supremacists.
When Rain left for the academy, Shion was born, and Teruche was press-ganged into serving as her attendant. Though she initially cared for Shion out of a mere sense of duty, she grew to love the girl as they matured together.
When Rain caused a catastrophic incident that nearly crippled Amunzaas, Teruche witnessed Shion’s absolute despair. This was the breaking point; she abandoned her family and joined Amunzaas, personally leading the purge against the Hagwell House. Though she intended to execute Rain as well, she was stayed by Shion’s persuasion. At that moment, Teruche recognized Shion’s incredible character and natural leadership, and she pledged her eternal loyalty to her.
Oliver Cardiff
Gender: Male Age: 19 (Born May, Four Holy Era Year 610) Appearance: Sandy-brown hair with a yellowish tint and gray eyes. Standing 180cm with a lean, muscular build. Affiliation: Unaffiliated Ability: 【Mana Convergence】 — The power to draw in and concentrate environmental mana into a single point. Alias: Former Hero / Sword Saint
Summary: Born as the Atavism of the "Hero." At age nine, his home was raided by the Cyclamen Cult. Following his defeat, he was subjected to 【Perception Alteration】 in the same manner as Orun.
He later surfaced as an Explorer in Tsutrail. Even with his powers suppressed, his natural talent was undeniable, and he rose to become the ace of Golden Dawn, earning the title of "Sword Saint." However, Philly’s manipulation caused a seed of doubt regarding Orun’s competence to sprout. As the party descended deeper into the Great Labyrinth of the South, that doubt blossomed. After seeing Orun benefit from Selma’s buffs during a Joint Subjugation, Oliver’s suspicion turned into a cold certainty. Though he initially hesitated to cast out the companion he had shared so many hardships with, he was eventually swayed by the influence of Anneri and Derrick, deciding to expel Orun from the party.
In Chapter Three, Philly triggered a "Rampage State" in him, nearly forcing him to kill Orun. However, the emergence of Orun’s original personality from before his own mental manipulation allowed Orun to defeat him, breaking the spell and restoring Oliver’s sanity. This restored his lost memories and gave him a glimpse into the true nature of the world.
While the public believes he is currently incarcerated following his rampage, he struck a secret bargain with Marquis Forgas. Now, he conceals his identity behind a suit of full plate armor, acting as a solo Explorer and assisting in Cavadele’s clandestine operations.
In Chapter Five, he assimilated a Seirei Eye into his left eye, bringing him one step closer to the realm of the Transcendents. He primarily fights with a longsword, possessing swordsmanship that ranks among the world's elite. By combining his 【Mana Convergence】 with masterful Ki control, he has become a warrior without peer in both offense and defense.
Cavadele Evans
Gender: Male Age: Unknown Appearance: An elderly man with a well-groomed beard. Affiliation: Unaffiliated Ability: 【Equivalent Exchange】 — The power to obtain anything desired, provided an equal price is paid. Alias: Most Skillful Magic Artificer / Legendary Magic Artificer
Summary: Born in the Hitia Duchy, he entered the academy at age ten and quickly rose to prominence. He is credited with establishing the foundations of modern household magic tools, single-handedly raising the standard of living for commoners. His career was marked by brilliant inventions, earning him the title of the world’s "Most Skillful Magic Artificer."
Behind the fame, however, his life was one of tragedy. He was estranged from his son over ideological differences and faced constant persecution from jealous rivals. In Four Holy Era Year 619—ten years before the start of the story—it was reported that he had committed suicide.
In reality, he faked his death and sought asylum in the Nohitant Kingdom with the aid of Count Eddington. He opened a modest general store for Explorers in Tsutrail, where he eventually met Orun. Cavadele came to view Orun as his own grandson, teaching him everything from magic and Abilities to the very philosophy of life.
Since faking his death, he has been moving toward a grand objective. As of the end of Chapter Five, this plan involves Oliver, Leon (the Guildmaster of the South), and Marquis Forgas.
Beria Sans
Gender: Male Age: Unknown Appearance: Black hair and crimson eyes. Standing 180cm with a medium build. He is missing his left arm and wears an eyepatch over his right eye. Affiliation: Cyclamen Cult Ability: 【■■■■】 Alias: One-eyed Swordsman
Summary: The leader of the Cyclamen Cult, the organization seeking the resurrection of the Evil God. Shion and the members of Amunzaas mockingly refer to him as an "old relic." He is one of the few Transcendents who has reached the realm "Outside the Principles of Magic" and is widely considered one of the strongest beings in existence.
Philly Carpenter
Gender: Female Age: Unknown Appearance: Fresh green hair and hazel eyes. 160cm tall. Affiliation: Cyclamen Cult Ability: 【Perception Alteration】 — The power to freely rewrite a target’s sense of reality. Resistance to this ability varies by individual. Alias: Guide
Summary: The executives of the Cyclamen Cult are ranked by "seats," and Philly holds the First Seat, making her the de facto second-in-command. She rose to power roughly ten years ago during the clash between Orun and Beria. By intervening in their fight and tailoring the outcome to suit Beria’s whims, she earned his favor and a seat among the executives.
She has been the architect behind the Cult’s greatest successes over the last decade, including the subjugation of the vital region of Kyokutou. A ruthless pragmatist, she views other humans as nothing more than dolls to be played with. In addition to her terrifying ability, she possesses immense combat prowess. Even the fairy Titania admitted that, however slim the chance, Philly has the potential to become a Transcendent.
Ozwell McCloud
Gender: Male Age: 34 (Born January, Four Holy Era Year 595) Appearance: Dark brown hair and eyes. 171cm tall with a medium build. Affiliation: Cyclamen Cult Ability: 【Self-Healing】 — An artificially induced Ability. Alias: Doctor
Summary: The Sixth Seat of the Cyclamen Cult. A genius born with extraordinary observation skills, he mastered magic at a young age. By fourteen, he felt the profound isolation that often comes with such brilliance. However, after witnessing an incident caused by the Cult, his eyes were opened to the secrets of the world.
Learning of things that exist "outside the world," Ozwell dedicated his life to reaching that forbidden realm and joined the Cult to find the means. He eventually pivoted his research toward Abilities. When he learned that Beria was seeking someone to artificially manifest Abilities in others, he volunteered. Beria rewarded his ambition with an executive seat and the title of "Doctor."
Ozwell has spent years kidnapping candidates for his inhumane experiments, slowly decoding the mechanisms of Abilities. To ensure that his research is never interrupted by injury or accident, he successfully manifested an artificial 【Self-Healing】 ability within his own body.
Stieg Strom
Gender: Male Age: Unknown Appearance: Golden hair and gray eyes. 180cm tall with a medium build. Affiliation: Cyclamen Cult Ability: None Alias: Rakshasa
Summary: The Eighth Seat of the Cyclamen Cult. He made contact with Philly years ago, and the two formed a pact based on their mutual goals. Since roughly two years ago, he has served as the Doctor’s assistant at the "Farm," aiding in the creation of three Majin.
His original plan was to assassinate the Doctor once the Cult’s grand plan reached its second stage and take his seat. However, after Shion destroyed the Farm in Chapter Five, he was instead granted a newly created executive seat by Beria, along with the alias "Rakshasa."
Thank you for reading! This concludes the introduction for the major non-Explorer characters. While the details on the Cult members remain sparse for now, they will be central figures in the story from Chapter Six through Chapter Eight. I hope you’ll keep them in mind as the narrative unfolds!
