"Whew, that was busy, but definitely fulfilling."
"Mm."
Inside the Hurricane on their way back to Hourai Island, Jin relaxed alongside Elsa.
"Father, Elsa-sama, here is some tea."
"Ah, thank you."
Reiko brewed some green tea for them.
Even inside the gently swaying cabin, pouring tea without spilling a single drop was a feat only Reiko could manage.
"Ah, this tea is delicious."
Rather than using a Warp Gate, Jin and the others took their time, returning at a leisurely pace.
Upon returning to Hourai Island, Jin asked Laojun about the situation in the Kingdom of Franz and the Shouro Empire.
"Yes, My Lord. There are no issues in either nation. Everything is proceeding smoothly."
"That's good to hear....How are things at the Berlich Workshop?"
"They appear to be manufacturing them reasonably smoothly."
"I see."
Then Jin remembered something.
"Come to think of it, I received some improvement proposals for the power assist for civil engineering and construction, didn't I?"
With that in mind, he headed to the workshop to get to work with Reiko assisting him.
"First, the Light... Doing it like this should work."
By making this an option, he ensured it could also be attached to the units currently being manufactured at the Berlich Workshop.
He intended to treat this as an add-on order.
"Next... is this. A tail instead of three legs, huh?"
Moving on two legs made control far simpler.
Then, by utilizing the tail like an outrigger, it would provide stability during work.
"Like this, maybe?"
However, since this was his first time implementing such a design, even Jin needed to make fine adjustments about three times.
"That should do it."
Lastly was the climate control.
"Let's make a dust-prevention barrier projector into an option as well."
This was an option that would prevent workers from inhaling dust generated when digging into rock faces or bedrock.
Additionally, it could alleviate the heat when working under the scorching sun.
"Father, wouldn't it be better to install it by default?" Reiko asked.
"No, if we attach every single thing from the start, the cost will balloon," Jin replied.
"Is that so?"
"That's how it is. If we were making it on Hourai Island to use on Hourai Island, I'd pack in as much as possible, though."
However, because this was intended for the general public as a commercial product, Jin explained that costs had to be taken into consideration.
"I understand now. That makes sense."
Then, in about ten minutes, Jin and Reiko completed the new model of the power assist for civil engineering and construction, fully equipped with the options.
"I guess that's about right."
Even so, Jin felt it best to avoid suddenly introducing this to the Shouro Empire.
He figured that rolling out an improved model while mass production of the initial version was in full swing would only cause confusion.
"If it's just the options, it should be fine, though."
Thus, he decided to propose adding the two features—the Light and the air conditioning—purely as optional upgrades.
Meanwhile, reflecting on her recent lecture, Elsa keenly felt the need to modernize the educational assistant automata.
In the past, there had been educational instruction assistant automata known as Fuhrer.
Furthermore, Jin had recently donated instructor-type assistant automata called Lehrer to Avalon to teach the Adriana-style techniques.
After consulting with Laojun, Elsa concluded that there was a clear need to create assistant automata specifically for medical instruction.
This is something I should discuss with Jin-nii, she decided, choosing to bring it up over lunch.
"I see, that's certainly necessary....So, wouldn't Enju work?"
Enju was a female-type assistant automata developed by Jin and the others. At present, Enju 1 was undergoing field testing as Saki's assistant.
"Mm, I think that might be a bit too advanced."
Elsa pointed out that lending out such high-spec units free of charge might seem unnatural.
"Right, that makes sense too..."
Jin pondered how they could provide an educational assistant automata or golem at a low cost.
And finally—
"I've got it! What if we swap the control cores?"
The idea struck him.
"Ah, I see."
Elsa immediately grasped what Jin was getting at.
"As expected of Jin-nii."
"If I remember correctly, we donated some golem maids called Safi to Avalon before, right? I wonder how they're doing."
Laojun answered his query.
"Yes, My Lord. Of the 100 units, 81 are currently in active operation."
"Oh, that many?"
"Yes. And for the 19 units that are not, the damage is not particularly severe—at least, from your perspective, My Lord."
"I see....In that case... Hmm, having to go back to Avalon so soon feels a bit tedious, though..."
Today was April 14. Having just returned from Avalon the day before, Jin felt turning right back around would be far too hectic.
"Then let us make use of Deus Ex Machina for occasions such as this."
"Ah, that's a good idea."
Elsa would supply the data, Jin would provide the control cores, and Deus Ex Machina would handle the replacement on-site.
With that arrangement, there should be no problem at all.
However, Laojun offered a word of caution.
"However, My Lord, with that method, the experience and data accumulated up to this point will not be carried over."
"Ah, you're right. In that case, let's make it an update process."
The procedure would be:
Replace the old control core with the new control core. The data partition of the new control core would already have the medical knowledge prepared by Elsa pre-installed.
Transfer the accumulated experience data stored within the old control core.
"Mm, that works."
With Elsa's agreement, Jin added:
"Then, while we're at it, let's have the non-functional Safi units repaired too."
"Elsa, please prepare the educational data. I'll get the replacement control cores ready."
"Mm, got it."
Mobilizing Reiko, Laojun, and the Smiths without delay, Jin and Elsa set straight to work.
