Once the silent prayer concluded, it was time for the final event.
It was Jin's demonstration flight.
"And now, we will have a demonstration flight by one of our honored guests and organizers, the Magi Craft Meister, Jin Nidou-dono."
Amidst a wave of applause, the demonstration flight by Jin D and the Taube Kai got underway.
The "Kai" designation was tacked on simply because Jin had been far too busy with other matters to construct an entirely new machine from scratch.
The original Taube serving as its base shared its blueprints with numerous identical and sister craft, including the one Jin had gifted to the Nord Federation.
However...
"That's no ordinary Taube, is it?"
Lordtoss murmured as he watched the Taube Kai begin its smooth, gradual ascent.
"The color scheme is different, too."
Naturally, to justify the "Kai" label, Jin had consciously altered the exterior color....Though in all honesty, repainting it was practically the only thing he had done on the surface.
After ascending about five meters above the ground, the Taube Kai engaged its propulsion system.
And then...
"W-Whoa, amazing! Look at that acceleration!"
Even spectators who had started packing up their belongings promptly sat back down to watch the spectacle unfold.
"As expected of Jin's craft," Sion remarked with a gentle smile.
"Mm... So this is the gulf in technical mastery... Our nation truly is lagging behind."
"Indeed! It is every bit the equal of the victorious Bib #9! Simply magnificent, Jin-dono!"
Melikalans I of the Klein Kingdom lamented his realm's current standing, while Cowen, the Magic Technology Minister, sang Jin's praises.
"Yeah, I had to wing it without any rehearsal, but it's handling pretty well."
Back on Hourai Island, Jin muttered to himself as he remotely piloted his Doppel, Jin D.
"My own craft ended up pushed to the absolute bottom of the priority list, after all."
He had spent all his available time manufacturing camper-style bungalows, dining cars, restroom trailers, and various other facilities.
"Still, this ought to be plenty good enough."
Under Jin D's control, the Taube Kai streaked across the early afternoon sky.
"Jin-sama's craft really is something else, isn't it?"
"Yeah. And he's probably only running it at thirty or forty percent power right now."
From the spectator stands, Rubina and Greena kept their eyes glued to the Taube Kai's flight path.
"...I bet his design goal was to deliver more than enough performance at half output during standard operation."
"You're probably right."
Rubina's grandmother, Amanda, lacked any technical background and kept silent, but seeing her granddaughter happily chatting away with a friend brought a warm, beaming smile to her face.
"Oh, as expected of Jin-sama!"
The air race competitors could also sense the sheer latent potential of the Taube Kai.
"Wait, is it climbing...? But what are those?"
"Could they be... ailerons?"
Indeed, when Jin had finalized the Taube Kai, the single biggest alteration he had made was to the control system.
The easiest way to understand a Blow Floater was to think of it as a parachute that had learned to fly.
Or perhaps a motorized paraglider or hang glider.
Paragliders were steered by pulling cords to deform the parachute-like fabric wing known as a "canopy"—or at least, Jin knew that much.
He also remembered from television that certain motorized hang gliders featured dedicated cockpits comparable to airplanes, often sporting triangular, kite-like wings.
To put it bluntly, a Blow Floater was essentially a hybrid that threw all those concepts into a blender.
One defining trait of modern Blow Floaters was their use of rigid wings.
Furthermore, Marikka had relied on thrusters—auxiliary propulsion units—for steering. That approach was made possible entirely through magic.
Jin, however, had incorporated standard airplane control surfaces into the design. Specifically, ailerons. More accurately, they were elevons, combining the functions of elevators and ailerons.
The original Taube featured a flat, plate-like fuselage mounted beneath a circular wing, giving it the appearance of an inverted pot lid.
Jin had installed control flaps along the trailing edge of that circular wing to handle attitude control.
At higher flight speeds, these control surfaces became remarkably responsive.
"Look at Jin-sama banking the craft so sharply!"
"How is he even pulling that off?!"
Rubina and Greena watched with wide, astonished eyes.
"...Those small movable sections on the back of the circular wing have to be the key."
Rubina's sharp intuition was already on the verge of unraveling the trick.
Normally, such trim tabs were used only for fine adjustments, leaving dynamic maneuvers to the thrusters.
Jin, however, had married these elevons with the thruster system, striving for consistent, seamless maneuverability across both high and low speeds.
"Incredible... As expected of Jin-san's work!"
"Is this the gap between him and the rest of us...?"
Lordtoss and the other racers watched Jin's flight in absolute awe.
While the demonstration lacked flashy theatrics, they could instantly recognize that the craft achieved a flawless harmony of stability and agility.
"...If Jin-sama had actually entered the race, he would have left everyone in the dust."
"Well, that's one more incredible story we get to bring back to Avalon."
"Yes, Big Sister."
The two engineers visiting from Avalon seemed to have gained an immense amount of insight from the display as well.
"Jin-sama makes such marvelous things, doesn't he?"
"Indeed. He remains a distant summit to strive for, Grandmother."
Freddie and Eris appeared to have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the day's event.
"Mm-hmm, classic Jin. Even when pressed for time, look at the quality he delivers."
Over on Hourai Island, the rest of the inner circle was admiring the performance of the Taube Kai as Jin D put it through its paces.
"Th-That's Jin-sama for you! It's already a completely different beast from the Blow Floater I originally designed!"
Marikka showered Jin with unreserved praise.
"Indeed. It feels like it has moved one step closer to an airplane than a Blow Floater, hasn't it?"
Reinhard nodded in agreement.
"If refined properly, couldn't it fly just like a tailless aircraft?"
Hanna looked thoroughly intrigued by the prospect.
"If it goes that far, you can hardly call it a Blow Floater anymore," Reinhard remarked, prompting Saki to voice the sudden inspiration that struck her.
"Kufu, then how about calling it a 'Blow Plane'?"
"That's it!"
"Now that's a great name!"
A simple, offhand remark from Saki—the "Blow Plane."
Could the day be approaching when that term becomes the standard for compact airplanes and light aircraft across the world...?
