57-02 The Guests

October 7th.

The eager, early-arriving tourists reached Toka Village by bus.

"Well now, this 'bus' thing is quite comfortable to ride!"

"It truly is, Dear."

The buses seemed to be very well-received.

"...Is this the race venue? What a rustic village," some remarked.

While others said, "I like the simple, rustic atmosphere. It feels like a place where you can really unwind."

(Unfiltered feedback like this is truly useful...)

Laojun intended to record all of these complaints and praises to make good use of them in the future.

October 8th.

The second wave of tourists arrived.

"Oh, this is quite a nice hotel!"

"...It looks just like the Jade Villa on Kunlun Island."

Some of the guests seemed to have stayed at the Jade Villa before.

"A hot spring? Well, isn't this wonderful!"

"It warms you right up~"

Because the hot springs in Toka Village were simple springs, they possessed no extraordinary medicinal properties, but they were still well-received nonetheless.

October 9th.

"Um, where should we go to check in...?"

Tourists who could not be accommodated in the hotels also began to arrive.

"Yes, that would be Master Choya Kui's party, as well as Master Iyona Mode and Master Myuras Cordran, correct? Right this way, please."

"Ah, huh? What?"

They were guided by exquisitely crafted golems unlike anything they had ever seen, dressed in maid outfits they had likewise never laid eyes upon.

And at the destination they were led to, a cluster of unfamiliar lodgings stood tightly gathered.

"Master Choya's party, right this way. Master Iyona, this way please. Master Myuras, over here."

"Whaaat? What is this?"

"I've never seen anything like it..."

"A-A golem is showing us around!?"

They were camper-style temporary lodgings—bungalows.

Here, let us take a look at Myuras Cordran's diary.

October 9th

When I heard that an 'air race'—a race using 'Blow Floaters'—was being held in Toka Village, I couldn't sit still, so I emptied my savings to come see it.

However, since I didn't have enough money to stay at a hotel, I signed up for a plan to stay in something called a 'Ganbaro'? Or was it a 'bungalow'?

To get to Toka Village, a golem automobile called a 'bus'—which was reportedly lent out by that Magi Craft Meister and Deus Ex Machina—brought us here 'free of charge.'

As a novice magi craftsman, I was deeply astonished by this thing called a 'bus.'...Or so I thought.

In truth, that surprise was only the beginning.

Upon arriving in Toka Village, those of us not staying at a hotel—there were two other parties besides me—were guided to the outskirts of the village.

First of all, our guide was a golem dressed in a maid outfit.

Its design was simply magnificent, and its movements were indistinguishable from a human's. The clothes it wore gave off a luster I had never seen before, so I imagine they were made from some rare material.

The lodging that the golem led us to was this so-called bungalow.

It looked like the cabin of a large carriage. No, since it has wheels, it must actually be able to travel. I see, that means they can simply increase the number of units depending on the number of guests.

As for the hooks attached to the top, could it be so that an airship or something can hoist them up?

An airship capable of lifting something this heavy... I can't even imagine it.

The material seems to be 64 light silver or an alloy of it. It's finished in a brownish tone, which I assume is a deliberate effort not to ruin the surrounding landscape.

And then, the interior.

To my further astonishment, the inside is paneled with wood; though a bit compact, it's not inferior to an ordinary inn in the slightest.

It was equipped with small windows, a comfortable bed, a side table and chairs, along with cups and a water pitcher.

Thankfully, it even includes a toilet, which is a lifesaver since I don't have to step outside the bungalow at night.

Originally, meals weren't included, so I was wondering what to do in an unfamiliar land, but that worry proved unfounded.

In the area where the bungalows are located, there are bungalows that serve food... or whatever you might call them; at any rate, mobile stalls and dining halls were available.

The prices are cheaper than in the royal capital, and the food doesn't taste bad at all... In fact, it was better than half the shops in the capital.

What's more!

Though it isn't a hot spring, there was even a mobile bathhouse, which blew me away.

All of them were being run by golems dressed in maid outfits.

Are they the work of the Magi Craft Meister, or perhaps Deus Ex Machina?

As someone involved in magi-craft, I hope to craft golems like these myself someday.

Tomorrow is finally the '1st Marikka Cup Air Race.'

I'm so excited I can hardly fall asleep...

"The mobile lodgings seem to be very well-received. The golem maids are handling things admirably as well."

Using a manacam, Laojun delivered a report to Jin, who was at Jin Nidou.

"Is that so? It was our first time trying this, so I was worried, but it sounds like it's going smoothly."

"Yes, My Lord. There are 234 guests staying at the hotels, and 341 staying in the bungalows."

"That's impressive."

"It is all thanks to you preparing the lodging vehicles in such haste, My Lord. There is still room for over a hundred more people."

Jin had prepared 100 two-person units and 100 four-person units.

Since there were single travelers and parties of three staying together, having leftover capacity was inevitable.

"There must be quite a few visitors from other countries too, right?"

"Yes. We have guided all invited guests to the hotels, and individual visitors to the bungalows."

"I see."

"No major confusion or disturbances have occurred either."

"I'm relieved to hear that."

He had been on guard against any trouble breaking out, but for now, everything seemed fine.

"Well then, tomorrow's finally the day..."

Ultimately, the Klein Kingdom was designated as the official organizer, with Jin and Maquina settling into supporting roles.

"Still, I have to give an opening address, don't I..."

Jin found himself pondering that he ought to start thinking about what to say.

"And My Lord, regarding that sabotage plot..."

"Ah, right, there was that."

Jin listened attentively to Laojun's report.
