Ch. 328

Chapter 144: An Overly Naive Assumption—Asura

The legendary Chief God of Evil, Beelzebub. An ancient evil god who had run rampant back when the world was not yet divided into good and evil.

Legend had it that he wiped out the faction of the Chief God of the Sun overnight when they attempted to subjugate him as the very incarnation of wickedness.

Legend had it that he utterly eradicated the clan of the Chief God of Chaos, who had once boasted supreme authority, after they dared draw their bows against him.

Legend had it that he devoured every single member of the armies of hero gods and demon gods who were unfortunate enough to clash near his nest.

Legend had it that he was the vilest, most despicable, and mightiest evil demon god, possessing infinite life and death.

His heinous deeds were foul enough to make even Asura of the Six Great Generals recoil. He was one of the few true calamities in existence, so terrible that every faction in the world eventually chose to leave him entirely untouched.

Through circumstances unknown, he had ultimately been sealed away in that infamous dungeon, the Gods' Ordeal. As for which faction managed to seal such a monster and how they achieved it, conflicting legends were passed down within both the heavenly and evil camps.

From the distant past to the present day, Beelzebub was recognized by all as the absolute evil among evils—the strongest Chief God of Evil.

However, setting aside his young, weak self from those ancient days, Asura was now one of the Six Great Generals, standing at the pinnacle of the Evil Army's military might. Even against the legendary Beelzebub, he could put up more than enough of a fight, and mere underlings would not stand a chance. The only true threat was Beelzebub himself.

Therefore, he could not afford to falter against those claiming to be Beelzebub's spawn.

Granted, they had slaughtered one of the Asura faction's war warriors with trivial ease. The rank-and-file war warriors stood no chance against those child flies of Beelzebub. But against the swarm of floating flies, his soldiers should be more than capable of claiming victory.

All that remained was dividing their duties. Asura, alongside Zenki and Goki, would effortlessly dispatch Beelzebub's three children, while the rest of his subordinates slaughtered the giant flies hovering in the air.

Then, bringing the full might of Asura's forces to bear, they would strike down Beelzebub's true form. That was the strategy with the highest probability of victory.

Just as Asura drew a deep breath to bark orders to his troops—

"Hey guys, it's dinner time."

Būnbun cracked his neck and snapped his hands together. The bodies of the giant flies hovering in the air bulged and convulsed, sprouting limbs until they transformed into bipedal horrors with the heads of flies.

"T-They transformed?!"

The moment an officer cried out in shock, one of the bipedal fly monsters vanished into thin air.

"Huh?"

At the exact moment that dull gasp left his lips, the bipedal fly monster welled up from the shadow directly behind him. It seized the officer's head in a ruthless, vise-like grip.

"Gugigigagigigigigigikugagagagaahh—!"

Letting out a grotesque shriek, the skin across the seized Evil Army Officer's entire body bubbled and melted, collapsing into a spherical lump of flesh before bursting with a wet pop. Crawling out from the ruptured meat was a single, giant maggot. It rapidly pupated into a massive fly, which promptly mutated into another bipedal horror.

"Uwah..."

"M-Monsters!"

Set off by the officer's dying screech, the bipedal fly monsters surged forward, swarming the war warriors of the Asura faction all at once.

And Asura's overly naive assumption was shattered into pieces by the Chief God of Flies, plunging the chamber into a screaming, chaotic hell.
