Chapter 142: A Request from a Warrior

"Well now, that was far more entertaining than I expected."

In stark contrast to his mood before breaking into the innermost chamber, a broad, satisfied grin spread across Kai's face. He lightly tapped the back of Murasame against his shoulder as he turned his gaze toward the monster-shaped building that had now merged into a single structure.

Seeing his master like that, Asta gave a slight shrug.

"Do you intend to invade that one yourself as well, Master?"

He asked merely to confirm what was already obvious.

"Yeah. I was asked to deliver a message, after all."

"It hardly looks like a mere message to me."

Indeed. Deep within the eyes of Kai Heinemann, who still wore an eerie smile, flickered the flames of a fierce resolve that eclipsed anything seen from him moments ago.

"Naturally. Flawed though he may have been, it's the dying wish of a warrior who staked his life. To that utter fool inside who has lost his way, I'll impart bone-deep terror and the ultimate humiliation before sending him off to Valhalla."

Without turning his head, Kai shifted only his eyes toward Beelzebub, the Lord of the Flies, who had knelt before him unnoticed.

"Belze, circumstances have changed. No need to hold back—I'm leaving practically everything to you. Use your own methods to show that idiot in there true terror. I'll clean up the mess afterward."

"Understood, yes I dooo. Preparations are already complete, yes they are."

Bowing his head deeply, Beelzebub spoke words that spelled sheer nightmare for Asura and his cohorts. A moment later, his figure vanished into thin air, as though he had never existed in the first place.

"I sympathize with Asura from the bottom of my heart."

"Hm. So you're acquainted with the idiot in there too?"

"Rather than an acquaintance, it is merely bad blood from the past."

"Either way, no matter who that idiot is, I have no intention of going easy on him. I'm going to thoroughly crush his rotten spirit and flimsy pride without leaving a single trace."

"In a sense, it seems Anra has made the cruelest request possible for Asura."

Asta narrowed his eyes, watching his master's back for a moment as Kai strode toward Asura's stronghold with the fierce, predatory intensity of a beast. Then, closing his eyes tightly and shaking his head, he fell into step behind him.
