*Characters newly introduced in Chapter 4 are marked with a ★.

Affiliated with the Fortress City of Lamoor

  • Kai Heinemann: The protagonist of this story. After receiving the Gift "The Most Incompetent in the World" during his Divine Revelation at age thirteen, he was shunned by those around him. Originally a kindhearted boy, he was swallowed by a mysterious dungeon where he trained for one hundred thousand years. As a result, he emerged as a genuine monster sorely lacking in common sense, stirring up chaos and turmoil throughout the world.

  • Lena Grot: Kai's childhood friend, a charming girl with shoulder-length red hair. After receiving the Sword Saint Gift through her Divine Revelation, the Holy Amelia Kingdom's government forced her to live in the royal capital. She is currently dispatched to the Neutral Academic City Babel.

  • Laila Helner: Kai's childhood friend and the only daughter of a prominent greatsword dojo in Lamoor. She was formerly his fiancée, but the engagement was dissolved shortly after Kai's Gift was revealed to be "The Most Incompetent in the World." A beautiful girl with long, wavy blonde hair. She is currently staying in the neutral City of Babel to enroll in Babel.

  • Roman Heinemann: Kai's cousin, a handsome boy from the branch house. Harboring romantic feelings for Laila, he snaps at Kai at every opportunity. A Spear King Gift Holder. He resolved to enter Babel to follow Laila and is currently staying in the neutral City of Babel for his enrollment.

  • Keith Steinberg: Kai's tall childhood friend. A Grand Mage Gift Holder. One of the few people whose attitude toward Kai remained unchanged even after learning his Gift was complete garbage. Like Lena, he is currently dispatched to Babel.

  • Riku: A rising star of the Heinemann Sword Style. After being defeated by Kai at the Sacred Martial Arts Tournament, he realized the immense gulf in their strength. Regarding Kai as a War God, he is currently undergoing training to earn his acknowledgment.

  • Shiga: A huge man with a cleft chin and a shaved head who serves as an assistant instructor. He was Riku's master, but abandoned him under the pretense of insubordination. Belongs to the Heinemann style's largest faction, the Heinemann branch house faction.

  • Elm Heinemann: Kai's grandfather. A Sword Saint Gift Holder who fought the Four Great Demon Kings in the past as a member of the Hero's party. Moved by Riku's resolve, he decided to personally oversee his training.

★ Lumine Helner: Laila's cousin. Holder of a trash Gift called "Downward Spiral." She adores Laila and harbors hostility toward anyone close to her... though deep down, is she actually a brocon? Appears as a young girl with a blonde bob cut.

Affiliated with the Hunter Guild

  • Mia: Receptionist at the Balse branch of the Hunter Guild. A beauty with long blonde hair tied in a single ponytail behind her back.

  • Raiga Easter: A Class-D hunter hailing from Lamoor, just like Kai. A tall, blonde swordsman with sharp eyes. Has a crush on Mia. Plagued by immense guilt after his comrades were killed due to his own failure. Spurred by Kai's command to "get stronger," he is currently on a journey of self-improvement.

  • Hook: A Class-D hunter in Raiga's party. Possesses the prophetic power of "Star Reading." After his comrades were slain, he set out on a training journey alongside Raiga.

  • Ilza Harnish: A Class-B hunter who possesses a specialized espionage Gift called "Agent." An Amazoness, she scouted Kai in hopes of exploring the Ancient Temple. Ever since Kai saved her during the battle against Pazuzu, she has become deeply entwined in the story he weaves.

  • Ralph Excel: Master of the town of Balse's Hunter Guild. Formerly the Chief Mage of the World Mage Academy Babel; in terms of sheer strength, he is a superhuman-class hunter comparable to Wolfman. He also shares a past acquaintance with Kai.

  • Wolfman: An S-class hunter based in Balse. Clad entirely in wolf pelts, he wears a wolf mask. Was nearly killed by Pazuzu before Kai saved his life.

Martial Artists

  • Aaron Cayen: Grandmaster of Cayen style swordsmanship. An elderly man with white hair whose eyes are hidden beneath thick, pure white eyebrows. He once attempted to recruit Kai into the Cayen style, but gave up after coming to revere him as a War God.

  • Zack Power: A premier martial artist with a rugged, muscular frame standing two mels tall. In order to become Kai's disciple, he entered Rose's service as a knight. He looks up to Kai as his Master. He is currently training in Norn's Territory, reportedly making astonishing strides in strength... or so rumors say.

The King of the Holy Amelia Kingdom's Faction

  • Edward Loto Amelia: A fierce, blonde man and the reigning King of the Holy Amelia Kingdom. He declared the commencement of the Throne Succession War.

  • Johannes Roosevelt: A burly man with black hair and a beard. The Prime Minister of the Holy Amelia Kingdom, he turned Amelia into one of the world's foremost military superpowers in remarkably short order.

  • Arnold: Knight Captain of the Holy Amelia Kingdom and Royal Guard to the current king. Currently on an official mission in Babel attending a conference regarding the war against the Demon Kings.

★ Knut: Purportedly Edward's younger brother. Aside from ranking among the kingdom's absolute strongest, everything about him is shrouded in mystery. Appears as a tall, handsome young man with red hair.

The Second Princess of the Holy Amelia Kingdom's Faction

  • Louise Loto Amelia: Second Princess of the Holy Amelia Kingdom. Has the appearance of a young blonde girl. Appointed Isaac Gizdoor, hailed as the strongest hunter, as her Royal Guard.

The First Princess of the Holy Amelia Kingdom's Faction

  • Rosemary Loto Amelia: First Princess of the Holy Amelia Kingdom. Appointed lord of Eastend as part of the Throne Succession War. As always, she spends her days entirely at Kai's mercy.

The First Prince of the Holy Amelia Kingdom's Faction

  • Gilbert Loto Amelia: First Prince of the kingdom and Rose's rival in the Throne Succession War. Appointed the Sage Satoru Mizoguchi as his Royal Guard. After scheming to assassinate Kai Heinemann and dragging his childhood friend Laila into the crossfire, his memories were erased, and he was disqualified from the Throne Succession War. Whether he can ever make a comeback rests entirely on his future actions... perhaps?

  • Satoru Mizoguchi: A handsome, black-haired youth of seventeen or eighteen. A member of the Hero's party and one of the kingdom's strategic-grade assets. Appears to harbor feelings for Rose.

★ Tetor: Born to a family of low-ranking knights, he has served Gilbert since childhood. Though enrolled in Babel, he attends Ouboro Academy—the lowest-ranked institution within it—and consequently suffers vicious bullying from the other knights. A gentle-spirited boy with freckles across the bridge of his nose.

★ Tamuri: Gilbert's Guardian Knight. After being knocked cold by Kai in the dining hall, he was stripped of his post. Plotting to kill Kai Heinemann in exchange for a promised reinstatement, he was bested in a sword duel by Deimos and captured. In a joint council among Kai, the kingdom, and Babel, it was decided that he would take the fall for everything and face execution.

★ Somni Barrel: A youth who reached the final four of the Sacred Martial Arts Tournament after his father bribed his opponents. Though appointed as Prince Gilbert's Guardian Knight, he was nearly disposed of by the prince for his lack of strength, only to be rescued by Deimos.

★ Egg: Somni's classmate from the Royal Knight Academy. Formerly an earnest young swordsman, he turned into a frivolous skirt-chaser after discovering his admission was secured through underhanded connections. Nearly assassinated, but rescued by Lucas and his companions.

Those Hired by Prince Gilbert and the Vice Headmaster Faction for Babel's Practical Test

★ Tokotsu: A top-tier necromancer hired to assassinate Kai and Somni. Despite holding the rank of instructor in the Tower, he was expelled once his grotesque hobbies came to light. A rather eccentric mage in more ways than one.

★ Poison Bee: An A-rank criminal hired by the vice headmaster faction to eliminate Lumine and Roman. Valiantly confronted his foes by summoning the Taikouhou, but was utterly defeated by Kai and reduced to Beelzebub's plaything.

Affiliated with Babel

★ Inea Renren Lorelei: Chief Headmaster of Babel. In a bid to purge the vice headmaster faction, she sought to use Kai, only to draw his wrath and push Babel to the very brink of annihilation. Following the incident, she managed to reconcile with him and avert total ruin. She voluntarily stepped down to take responsibility for the turmoil during the entrance exams.

  • Bly: A swordsman in Babel's martial arts department aligned with Headmaster Inea's faction. Recognizable by his bandana.

★ Elish Excel: Ralph Excel's biological daughter. All she yearns for is a quiet, ordinary life, yet meeting Kai has repeatedly dragged her down a turbulent path that is anything but peaceful.

★ Chloe: Formerly the head of the Investigation Department and the Chief Headmaster's right hand, she ended up taking over as the new Chief Headmaster following Inea's resignation. One of the realm's premier masters of remote surveillance magic. Has the appearance of a long-eared, blonde woman in navy-blue robes.

★ Kouma: A white high divine beast resembling a canine. Has been trembling non-stop ever since witnessing Fenrir acting affectionately toward Kai.

★ Crab Einstein: Babel's vice headmaster whose influence was second only to Inea. At Prince Gilbert's request, he assisted in the plot to assassinate Lumine and Roman, ultimately dying in absolute despair under Beelzebub's retribution. Appears as a massive, elderly man in green robes.

★ Sharp-Eyed Man in a Green Robe (Name Unknown): The middleman who coordinated between Prince Gilbert and Crab. Met his end under Belze's retribution.

The Central Church

★ Cardinal Pandora: One of the Central Church's cardinals. While visiting Babel on a separate matter, she passed along orders from church headquarters to Crab to assassinate Lumine, holder of the "Downward Spiral" Gift. Because her role was strictly that of a messenger, she escaped Beelzebub's wrath. She has begun mobilizing to confront the heinous malice stirring throughout the world. Appears as a beauty draped in white priestly vestments, her face veiled beneath snow-white hair.

★ Archbishop Schnee: One of the Four Great Archbishops representing the Central Church's supreme military might. Appears as a white-haired young man clad in opulent white attire.

  • Amnes di Glitnir: The reigning Emperor of Glitnir. An aging man with white hair who harbors ambitions of global conquest.

  • Four: First among the Six Knight Generals. A mysterious figure clad entirely in black garb save for his left eye. Possesses strength said to surpass even Ifrit prior to his entry into the Subjugation Compendium.

★ Ramunera: One of the Imperial Six Knight Generals. Wielder of a holy relic—the Four Lights. Captured by the Rot King, he was rescued by Kai and chose to follow him. Before being taken in by Four, he and Kirki were orphans surviving in the slums. They were raised together like brother and sister for as long as they can remember.

★ Kirki: One of the Imperial Six Knight Generals, holding the title of War Princess. A master swordswoman who wields a longsword holy relic. Hailing from the slums alongside Ramunera, she shares a sibling-like bond with him. Like Ramunera, she resolved to follow Kai after being saved by him.

The Rot King's Faction

★ Rot King: An evil god sealed within the deepest ruins of the temple in Area 5 of Babel's Dead City of Flowers. Possessing divinity, he wields power outstripping even a Demon King; however, after attempting to abduct Laila, he incurred Kai's wrath and was annihilated like an insect. In appearance, he has a tiny, balloon-like spherical frame like a dwarf, a completely hairless bald head, and wears small, round sunglasses over an unnaturally circular face.

★ Shikaku, Hoshi, Maru, Sankaku: The Rot King's four close retainers. Literally the apostles of a god, they were supposed to possess formidable power... yet in an all-out clash, they proved inferior even to Lucas and Deimos. Following Kai's intervention, they were reduced to Belze's playthings. They take the form of black-suited zombies with square heads.

★ Redledo: The zombified remains of the former Red Dragon King. Easily dispatched by the top executive of the Girimehkala Faction.

Wind Cats

  • Maaya: A girl with bobbed black hair. One of the villagers rescued by Kai.

Count Kusar's Faction

  • Ketzer Kusar: A count belonging to the Gilbert faction. An obese man with a face resembling a toad. A degenerate whose sick pleasure was tormenting screaming women. Falling straight into Kai's trap, he danced comically to his tune before being tortured and killed.

  • Caesar: A hulking former member of the Holy King Mage Knights. After slaughtering civilians without cause during a mission, he was disciplined by Lucas, who burned the left side of his face beyond recognition. He abandoned the order, trained to exact vengeance on Lucas, and attacked the Wind Cats alongside Ruby, only to be turned upon and killed by Lucas. Immediately afterward, Ruby reanimated him as an undead.

  • Ruby: An elite Summoner who graduated from the World Mage Academy Babel. An unkempt, bearded man wearing navy-blue robes. He summoned Deimos Lich, but following Girimehkala's intervention, he was incinerated in an instant by Ifrit.

  • Mudite: Supreme Commander of the domain army. Attempted to encircle and annihilate the Wind Cats, but was surrounded in turn, captured, and punished by the kingdom.

  • Onyx: Ruby's older brother, a wild-looking young man wearing blue robes. An elite Summoner who graduated from the World Mage Academy Babel. Participated in the operation to suppress the Wind Cats, but was surrounded and captured alongside the Armored Dragon he summoned. As for what followed... (Left to your imagination. Needless to say, it was the worst imaginable fate.)

Inhuman Factions

  • Ket: Felice's contract spirit. Has the appearance of a kitten. Felice's companion. Admires Kai, affectionately referring to him as the Great One.

  • Titan: The Earth Spirit King. Appears as a brown-haired boy. His twisted personality is currently undergoing disciplinary correction by Girimehkala.

★ Deimos Lich: A black skeleton draped in opulent vestments. Boasting power rivaling the Spirit King Titan, he nonetheless yielded to Kai and Girimehkala without a fight. By now, he has become a thoroughly devoted follower of Kai. Formerly known in life as Star Raneige, hailed as the strongest mage in history, before turning into an undead. Appointed as the magic instructor to Tetor and Somni.

  • Armored Dragon: A wingless dragon. Following the dragon transformation of the Wind Cats' elder under Ladon's divine protection, it shared the exact same fate as Onyx.

  • Mike: One of Pazuzu's Three Beast Warriors. A beast with the head of a tiger. Smashed to smithereens by Kai.

  • Piko: One of Pazuzu's Three Beast Warriors. A beast with the head of an eagle. Smashed to smithereens by Kai.

  • Azi Dahaka: A three-headed evil divine dragon. Truly terrifyingly powerful, yet to Kai, it was no different from a common goblin, and was slain like a disposable lizard.

Northground Faction

★ Aldebaran: One of the Four Great Demon Kings who harbors a profoundly cruel nature, readily sacrificing the demons of his own domain for experiments. Swallowing the sweet whispers of an ominous squirrel, he paints Northground in blood and slaughter.

★ Cetus: A colossal blue dragon. Devoid of any moral compass, it slaughters the monsters of Northground alongside Aldebaran in pursuit of greater strength.

Heavenly Realm

★ Ars: The high god overseeing Lemuria, the world where Kai and the others dwell. In the past, he emerged victorious in the war against the Rot King, sealing him deep within the ruins of Babel. When his rogue subordinate Corinth incurred the wrath of the ultimate monster, Kai Heinemann, by attempting to assassinate his acquaintance Lumine, Ars was subjected to swift retribution. Stripped of many subordinates and with his pride thoroughly shattered, he swore vengeance against this nameless monster.

★ Deus: The supreme chief god of the Heavenly Realm and grandfather to Ars. It appears he may share some connection with Beelzebub.
