Chapter 48: The World Trembles

[Let's All] Shinjuku Dungeon Discussion Thread Part 122 [Liven Up Shinjuku Dungeon!]

Anonymous Explorer Man, who would've thought this ghost-town thread would burn through so many posts between yesterday and the day before?

Anonymous Explorer Well, Shinjuku Dungeon is one of the epicenters of this whole massive uproar. Considering that, it makes sense... Or rather, compared to the other dungeons at the center of it all, our pace is still on the slower side. Just look at America's Chicago Dungeon. It's an absolute madhouse over there.

Anonymous Explorer This is the biggest news since the discovery of the Magic Stone Generator, and here you guys are...!!

Anonymous Explorer It's not our fault! It's Shinjuku Dungeon's fault for being so deserted!!

Anonymous Explorer Even so, more people have been showing up since Leveling Junkie Bro appeared, you know?

Anonymous Explorer 'Sup! Dropped by this thread for the first time in a while. Is it moving kind of fast, or is it just me? What's everybody talking about?

Anonymous Explorer >564 Huh? Are you for real?

Anonymous Explorer >564 No way. That's impossible. Don't you watch the news? Lurk more, seriously.

Anonymous Explorer >566 I check internet news sometimes. Lurking's a pain anyway.

Anonymous Explorer >567 Dude, even internet news has been pumping out an absurd number of breaking news alerts.

Anonymous Explorer My bad. I was diving in a dungeon for like five days and just finally made it back to the Surface... I barely had time to check the news. Besides, my phone battery died halfway through. Go easy on me...(;∀;)

Anonymous Explorer >569 Whoa! Thought you were just an out-of-the-loop casual, but turns out you're one of those hardcore enthusiasts!!

Anonymous Explorer >569 Lmao, didn't expect an actual Pro Explorer to drop in.

Anonymous Explorer That's right! I'm amazing! Worship me! Praise me! Shower me with adoration!!

Anonymous Explorer >572 Don't get cocky.

Anonymous Explorer >572 Go die.

Anonymous Explorer I'm sorry. I got carried away. Please be nice to me. (;∀;)

Anonymous Explorer Tch! Fine, whatever. Don't get full of yourself again.

Anonymous Explorer Ptooey! Moron...

Anonymous Explorer What's with this thread? The user quality is terrible...(;∀;) Come on, somebody explain it to me already...!

Anonymous Explorer Fine, I guess I'll help out this clueless guy. Someone summarize it in three lines, please!

Anonymous Explorer >579 You're not even the one explaining it, are you?!

Anonymous Explorer Alright, in place of 579, I'll break it down in three lines. Here it comes, ready?

Headshot Yakuza hosts an emergency livestream on the uncharted Floor 25, in Shinjuku Dungeon no less. He instantly melts the boss that was supposed to be on the front lines, making everyone fall in love with his badassery. Defeating the boss causes an item to drop. Mito-san performs an Appraisal on the bag-like drop item. As a result, it turns out to be an item called an "Expansion Bag," which expands the internal space. At the Japan Explorer Association's request, Headshot Yakuza sells the Expansion Bag to them. After investigating, the Japan Explorer Association announces that replicating the Expansion Bag is possible. Right on the heels of that, reports of Floor 25 breakthroughs flood in one after another from America, the United Kingdom, Germany, and more. On top of that, the items dropped from those bosses are confirmed to be a "Weight Reduction Bag," a "Preservation Bag," and an "External Isolation Bag." The next day, the WEO, having shared info with the national associations, announces that depending on materials, it might be possible to integrate these four magic tools into a single item. ← YOU ARE HERE.

Anonymous Explorer >581 Lmao, that's not three lines at all!

Anonymous Explorer Way too loooong!!

Anonymous Explorer Wait, hang on. Too much, too much! That's an information overload!! (;∀;)

Anonymous Explorer And continuing from that... What makes this so insane is that the discovery has an overwhelmingly massive impact across multiple fields. Apparently, these bags have a structure that's simple enough to replicate, on par with Magic Stone Generators and Levitation Devices. If mass production happens, it'll have a massive impact on us explorers, and it's on a scale that will revolutionize global logistics. However, the required materials are precious, so mass production is impossible at the current stage. And what everyone's seriously buzzing about right now is that full-scale Space Development has suddenly become realistic. Because of this, governments across the world are going crazy, and people are saying a Space Race on a scale unseen since the Cold War might break out.

Anonymous Explorer Hmm? I can understand the impact on explorers and the logistics revolution, but what do you mean by Space Development becoming realistic? Is there any connection???

Anonymous Explorer There are several massive problems with Space Development that currently can't be solved... Word is that with the technologies discovered this time, most of those problems might be solved, excluding communication range limitations and travel speed issues. "Weight Reduction" drastically lowers the cost of launching things into space, "External Isolation" solves issues like cosmic radiation exposure, and "Spatial Expansion" combined with "Preservation" could potentially solve space living conditions, food issues, and more.

Anonymous Explorer Whoa, I barely get it, but sounds a-ma-zing... Wait, so what can actually be built with that?

Anonymous Explorer Well, put simply, there's a chance the world turns into something like Gun○am. The possibility of building colonies and long-term habitable spacecraft has skyrocketed. We're talking about a level where it could be realized in ten or twenty years.

Anonymous Explorer Whoa, seriously?! Isn't that insane!!?

Anonymous Explorer >590 That's literally what I just said.

Anonymous Explorer I mean, the "Weight Reduction" technology alone has a massive impact on the world. Ever since that was announced, Omori-gumi's stock has hit its daily limit several days in a row.

Anonymous Explorer Omori-gumi? The construction company? Why? Are they related?

Anonymous Explorer They're totally related. With "Weight Reduction," the Orbital Elevator Omori-gumi's been trying to build might actually become possible. Depending on the performance of "Weight Reduction," they could use heavier materials that are cheaper to produce than carbon nanotubes for the elevator cables, which blows open the options for usable cable materials.

Anonymous Explorer I see, I see...

Anonymous Explorer >595 This guy didn't understand a thing...

Anonymous Explorer Still, this means global demand for explorers is going to increase again. Just a while ago everyone was panicking over monsters starting Inter-floor Movement, but now demand for dungeon resources has skyrocketed and buyback prices are already creeping up... Instead of decreasing, the number of explorers is probably gonna shoot up.

Anonymous Explorer Yeah. They say replicating "Spatial Expansion" and "Weight Reduction" requires dungeon materials other than magic stones—specifically materials dropped on Floor 20 or so—so governments will probably pour even more effort into training explorers. Plus, if drop item values keep rising like this, people might be able to earn enough to make a decent living just by sticking to low floors like Floor 1 or Floor 2.

Anonymous Explorer >598 Huh? But couldn't you make that much on lower floors originally? Like, remember when Leveling Junkie Bro appeared on Survivor Tachikawa's stream and stated how much he made in a day? Wasn't that purely from magic stones?

Anonymous Explorer >599 Is your brain modeled after Leveling Junkie Bro's? Don't go comparing a madman like that to normal people...

Anonymous Explorer >599 Do you even know how many magic stones you'd have to gather to pull that off?

Anonymous Explorer Ah, right... Now that you mention it, yeah... Forgive me, please.

Anonymous Explorer Oh, that reminds me! Before coming here, I peeked into the Leveling Junkie Bro Thread—what's this about Leveling Junkie Bro streaming a Monster Room looping run?! And people were freaking out over Leveling Junkie Bro taking his first day off from dungeon exploration, wondering if something happened. Is Leveling Junkie Bro okay?!

Anonymous Explorer Ah, since you were diving for five days, you couldn't watch the stream, huh? Makes sense you wouldn't know.

Anonymous Explorer As for the Monster Room looping stream, go watch the archive on Hinata-chan's channel. The clips are circulating everywhere, too.

Anonymous Explorer Regarding the status report on Leveling Junkie Bro and Hinata-chan, it's already been explained on Hinata-chan's ZX account, so check there. People panicked because the stream cut off abruptly in the middle of the Monster Room, but apparently both of them are safe; it was just equipment failure.

Anonymous Explorer By the way, Hinata-chan reported on ZX that Leveling Junkie Bro is supposedly resuming exploration starting today.

Anonymous Explorer ...Hey, Hinata is that streamer who was saved by Leveling Junkie Bro, right? Is that woman in a party with Leveling Junkie Bro? Wait, why? Why, why, why? I really hate that woman...

Anonymous Explorer What's wrong with you? Lmao. Suddenly sounding like one of Leveling Junkie Bro's Gachi-koi fans, it's hilarious www

Anonymous Explorer Leveling Junkie Bro's Gachi-koi fans...? What even is a Leveling Junkie Bro Gachi-koi fan??? I can't hide my confusion and shock that such a thing actually exists www

Anonymous Explorer >608 Lmao at the sudden gay coming-out. Poor Leveling Junkie Bro, having his backside targeted by a Pro Explorer who can dive into dungeons for five days straight www

Anonymous Explorer >611 Huh? Looks like everyone's misunderstanding, but I'm a woman, you know?

Anonymous Explorer Whaaaat?!

Anonymous Explorer Heh, a chick using J-min slang. Ugly for sure lmao.

Anonymous Explorer ............Excuse me? My measurements are 89-58-86, though?

Anonymous Explorer >615 Doesn't that info have nothing to do with whether you're ugly or not? Still, just hearing those measurements makes my heart race... Marry me, please!!!

Anonymous Explorer >616 Gross.

Anonymous Explorer Lmao at that brutal comeback www
