After enjoying a soak, Jin and Reinhard were sitting at the dinner table at the Rankenhaus.
"So, you found it, right?" Elsa asked as she fed Yuu his baby food.
"Yeah, we found it. Not only that, we even finished excavating the source," Jin replied while feeding Mio.
"My! That is wonderful!" Berche said happily, bringing a spoon to Juliana’s mouth.
"I think we can install the pump, finish the tubs, and build a temporary shed to get things into shape by tomorrow," Reinhard said, savoring his favorite wine.
"I’d like to stay until that's finished," Jin said. Reinhard bowed his head and offered a word of thanks.
Elsa simply smiled, looking pleased. Reiko, however, was looking a bit dejected because she hadn't been able to assist yet.
The next day, Jin, Elsa, Reinhard, Berche, Yuu, Mio, Juliana, Reiko, Anne, and Neon all gathered at the site where the hot spring had emerged. Even so, it was only a five-minute walk from the Rankenhaus.
Before them was the shaft for the hot spring that Jin and Reinhard had dug the day before—a vertical hole about twenty centimeters in diameter. Steam billowed from the opening, leaving no doubt that it was a thermal source.
"We’ll install a pump to draw the water up, and at the same time, we'll set up the tubs and build the shed. Oh, and we have to consider the drainage too," Jin noted.
They couldn't just let the wastewater soak into the ground or flow directly into Lake Tosmo. Jin explained the necessary precautions: they would build a Cleanup tank to let the sediment settle, then apply Cleanup magic to the supernatant water before discharging it.
"Well then, I’ll get started on installing the tubs," Reinhard said.
"Alright, I'll build the pump," said Jin.
"I will prepare the settling tank," Elsa added.
"And I shall oversee the construction of the temporary shed," Berche finished.
With their roles decided, the work began.
"Reiko, pass me that 64 light silver."
"Yes, Father."
Reinhard provided the materials. Using the corrosion-resistant 64 light silver, Jin began constructing a deep well pump. Once finished, a golem would be used to pump out the hot water.
"Dig."
Reinhard moved on to the tubs. He created four of them, each roughly two by four meters. There would be a men's bath and a women's bath, each featuring both a hot tub and a lukewarm tub.
"Dig."
Elsa also used Dig, a magi-craft spell of the earth-attribute, to excavate the settling tank. At the same time, she created a hot water storage tank to temporarily hold the thermal water.
"Yes, right there is fine. Set the pillars up around there..."
Berche gave instructions to the requisitioned workers as the temporary shed began to take shape. "And use those boards for screening over there..."
"Look, everyone, your fathers are working hard!"
"Daa."
"Buu."
"Auu—"
Anne held Yuu and Mio in her arms, while Neon watched over Juliana in her baby carriage. The children watched their parents work with great interest.
"It's finished."
"It is."
"We've done it, haven't we?"
"Yeah. Thank you, everyone!"
As a result of their collaboration, the hot spring facility was completed by noon. It was only a temporary shed for now, but Reinhard planned to build a proper structure at a later date.
"Well then, let's head back for lunch."
Since it was only a five-minute walk, they were home in no time. After thanking and dismissing the workers, Jin and the others sat down to eat.
"Man, Jin, thank you!" Reinhard was in high spirits throughout the meal. "With this, the welfare of the villagers will improve even more."
"Haha, I'm just glad I could help."
"I'd like to build about two more communal baths eventually."
"That would be lovely, Dear."
"And if we do that, it would be nice to pipe the hot spring water directly to this mansion too."
Jin was pleased to see that Reinhard was prioritizing his people first.
In the afternoon, the adults tested the baths. The children were given hot water to play in using large basins.
"Ah, this is a nice soak," Jin sighed, relaxing in the hotter tub. It was approximately 45 degrees Celsius.
"Yeah, this is exceptional," Reinhard agreed from the lukewarm tub, which was around 41 degrees Celsius.
When Jin checked the water with Analyze, it was classified as a simple spring. It was likely that the same water vein that fed Lake Tosmo was being heated by geothermal energy.
"The water feels wonderful."
"Mm."
"Daa—"
"Buu."
"Fuwaa—"
Elsa, Berche, Yuu, Mio, and Juliana were in the women's bath. Anne, Reiko, and Neon were with them, and the three of them were busy bathing the children in the basin baths.
"Thanks to you, our village finally has its own therapeutic facility."
"Mm, that’s good."
And so, a new resort facility was established in Kalts Village, within Reinhard's territory.
