Ch. 59

Chapter 59: The Leveling Fanatic Becomes a Goblin Genocider

April 7th.

Today, just like any other day, I made my way to the Shinjuku Dungeon.

I followed my usual routine: descending to Floor 1 to start my jogging and heading straight for the Monster Room on Floor 4. The trip took one hour and thirty-five minutes.

I still wasn't running at full tilt, so the increase in my agility must be having a significant impact.

Regardless, as soon as I reached the hunting grounds, I immediately began my laps.

I refrained from using Fighting Spirit, utilizing only Sword Aura, and carefully adjusted my HP to keep Blood Vengeance active at all times. I ran the circuit just as I had yesterday.

When I was collecting potions for Kawabata-san, I had powered through without any breaks. Now, however, to sustain the grind over a long duration, I set aside about thirty seconds to a minute between each battle to catch my breath—the exact timing fluctuated depending on my level of fatigue.

This interval was deceptively vital. Even with potions to help recover, my physical stamina wouldn't last for hours on end without these brief moments of rest.

Despite the pauses, I still managed about thirty-three laps per hour.

I didn't hit my record of thirty-six laps, likely because I wasn't "in the zone" like I had been before. That said, breaking the record would be easy enough; I’d just have to go all-out for a single hour.

However, doing so would make it impossible to grind for long periods, so this pace was probably as far as I could push it.

I continued my laps until around 7:00 PM and then headed home.

Below are today's results.

Monster Room laps: 244 (7 hours and 25 minutes of actual work, excluding breaks). Total goblins defeated: 3,904. Beginner Heal Potion drops: 73 (Used 60 for fatigue recovery. After a certain point, my heart started thumping wildly, so I stopped using them, but my stamina managed to hold out). Magic Stones obtained: 0. Skill Orbs obtained: 3. Total experience points gained: 1,076,040.

As you might have guessed, I went up two levels and am currently Level 28.

I’ll definitely hit Level 29 tomorrow.

However.

Oh, however.

That isn't the big news. With my current grinding power—my ability to efficiently loop through a hunting ground—this was merely a foregone conclusion.

The real development occurred during today's grind.

Actually, I’d had a premonition of it yesterday.

I had felt its quickening gradually growing stronger... and today, it finally happened.

Those of you with sharp intuition might have already realized. Yes, the total number of goblins I’ve defeated has finally exceeded 10,000!

When I defeated 100 goblins, I luckily obtained Goblin Killer due to a misunderstanding on the internet.

When I defeated 1,000 goblins, because I had maxed out the level of the Goblin Killer skill, the title and skill evolved, and I became a Goblin Slayer.

So, what happens when you defeat 10,000 goblins while having the Goblin Slayer skill at max level?

Well, this is what happens.

—Goblin Genocider.

That was my new evolved skill.

Now, you might be asking if my titles and skills increased besides that one?

When I checked my status during my lunch break today, something new had sprouted up. I suspect the trigger was appearing on Mogi-san and the others’ "Corporate Slave Busters" channel.

The details are as follows:

————————————————

【Titles】 Goblin Genocider — Proof of one who massacres the goblin race. You have been recognized as one who targets and exterminates the goblin race. Your relentless slaughter has reached the level of genocide. In battle against the goblin race, your body will gain sharpness, and you will gain more experience.

Swordmaster — You have been recognized by many as a swordmaster. By the time the enemy perceives the flash of your white blade, you have already finished your swing. That swift and powerful strike can even rend sturdy armor. Grants the skill Mighty Blade.

【Skills】 Goblin Genocider Lv. 1 — Damage dealt to the goblin race is multiplied by 4.0. During combat with the goblin race, all stats except HP and MP increase by 60%. Additionally, experience points obtained from the goblin race are multiplied by 1.2.

Mighty Blade Lv. 1 — Consumes 10 HP to multiply damage dealt by the next bladed weapon attack by 4.0.

————————————————

And there it is—a truly broken skill has arrived!

Which one, you ask?

Both of them!

Goblin Genocider is, well, exactly what I expected. If I raise this to its maximum level, it will probably have performance nearly identical to Lust Murder. Though the targets are the goblin race instead of the human race, and the experience multiplier for Lust Murder is higher.

To be blunt, it’s incredibly strong, and it’s finally the experience-doubling skill I’ve been longing for. The only real drawback is that it’s limited to goblins.

Even if I were to raise the skill level, goblins only appear up to Floor 10 in the Shinjuku Dungeon. Furthermore, the maximum level of the goblins that appear is 30, so I’m afraid that once I get above a certain level, I might stop using it altogether.

Honestly, there's a highly versatile experience-doubling skill out there that targets all monsters.

Though apparently, its drawbacks are so terrible that no one takes it nowadays.

...Anyway, I’ll hold off on spending points for now.

As for the other skill, Mighty Blade, it’s got some pretty insane numbers.

It’s a skill that allows me to quadruple my damage for a single hit at the cost of 10 HP. The consumption is heavy, but it’s undoubtedly a top-tier skill. And this is just at Level 1.

For the record, the Swordmaster title is already well-known, and there are others who have it besides me. Since its performance has been made public, I also know what its final stats will look like.

If I recall correctly, it eventually becomes a skill that consumes 50 HP to multiply damage by 20.0 for a single hit.

The HP consumption is no joke, but the damage multiplier is staggering. On top of that, other damage multipliers should stack with it. Even if I only had Increased Damage with Bladed Weapons, it’s a truly broken skill capable of putting out 40 times the normal firepower.

...However, it’s already overkill against goblins. While I’m active on the floors above Floor 10, it’s not a skill I should prioritize leveling. It’s strong enough even at Level 1.

So, that’s about it for the new skills.

You might have also noticed that Life Magic has quietly reached its maximum level.

I didn't spend points on this, of course. If you’re wondering how the level went up—it’s because I used skill orbs.

For the past few days, I’ve been using the Life Magic skill orbs I found on myself.

As it turns out, if you use skill orbs for the same skill repeatedly, you can raise the level of that skill.

That’s why I kept the skill orbs instead of selling them.

One could argue there’s no real need to level up something like Life Magic, but if I can reduce the MP consumption, it might come in handy someday.

Besides, regardless of whether I actually take them, having even one magic skill at maximum level is a requirement to unlock certain other skills.

Fulfilling those conditions in advance isn't a bad idea at all.
