The Kikou Academy Student Council Election.
At this academy, where the children of politicians and business leaders gather, the Student Council carries a weight of responsibility far beyond that of any ordinary school. The sheer cost and rarity of the items they procure demand high-level management skills. Since the council also handles invitations for every school event, an extensive network of connections is vital. The fact that the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry attended this year’s Management Game speaks volumes about the caliber of the outgoing executives.
The students themselves were deeply invested in the election. At Kikou Academy, everyone looks toward the future with a deadly serious gaze. That is why they demand a council they can trust. It isn't a role for just anyone; it can't remain a quiet, behind-the-scenes position. It must be a charismatic organization capable of leading the entire student body.
And it was in that race for the Student Council executive seats that we participated.
There were three candidates for Student Council President: Mirei Tennoji, Narika Miyakojima—
And Ren Joto.
Joto’s platform was bold: the "commoner-ization" of Kikou Academy. This audacity stood in stark contrast to Tennoji-san’s camp, leading the election to be perceived as a clash between the Reformist faction and the Conservative faction.
The framing was frustrating, to be honest. We had our own plans to reform the academy, yet we were still branded as the Conservative faction.
But it couldn't be helped. Joto’s proposal was so radical it would fundamentally transform the academy as we knew it.
Thus, our camps remained diametrically opposed, locked in a head-on collision.
I felt like I’d made some headway after dismantling Rintaro’s secret negative campaign and resolving the personal troubles that had plagued Asahi-san.
With Tennoji-san and Narika both polling well, I held onto a faint hope that one of them would secure the presidency.
Until that moment—
"From here on... I’m stepping forward."
The second I realized Ren Joto was finally getting serious, it hit me.
Everything before this had been nothing more than a preliminary skirmish.
