And so, the health checkup began.
The large hall was partitioned by curtains, and at the entrance, everyone was separated by gender.
“Well then, Master Lloyd, we shall head this way.”
“Yeah, see you later.”
After parting ways with Sylpha and the others, I entered the men’s side.
From the women’s side across the partition, I could hear the sounds of cheerful chattering. They seemed to be having quite a lively time.
“Nuooohhh! Even though a secret garden unfolds just beyond that single sheet of fabric, I am… I ammmm…!”
“Master Lloyd, should I go ahead and take care of this guy?”
“...Keep it within reason.”
Giving a half-hearted response to Grimo, I headed toward my brothers, who had gathered ahead of me.
Dian and the others were there, of course, and even Albert was present.
“Are you getting checked too, Albert-niisan?”
“Yeah. I was told that if I want to return to work, I have to undergo a proper examination. It’s a hassle.”
Albert shook his head with a resigned sigh.
From Rion’s perspective, he probably couldn’t stand the thought of Albert overworking himself and collapsing again.
“All right! It’s a showdown, Albert-nii! When we were kids, I lost to you in height and everything else. This time, I’m gonna win!”
“It seems they’re only measuring height and weight, Dian. They aren’t measuring grip strength or jumping power like you’re hoping for.”
“What?! Seriously?! …Well then, I’ll win at that instead!”
“No, even at a glance, it is obvious that Big Brother Albert is taller…”
“You don’t know until you try!”
While Dian and Zerof argued, Shneider stepped forward.
A nurse in a white coat proceeded to measure Shneider’s height and weight.
“Let’s see… Height is 229 centimeters, weight is 144 kilograms… What a breathtakingly magnificent physique.”
“Umu.”
After giving a short reply, Shneider moved on to the next station.
“……”
Faced with such an overwhelmingly impressive set of results, Dian could only gasp in silence.
By the way, Dian was five centimeters shorter than Albert.
The measurements continued smoothly after that.
It seemed they would also be using devices for hearing and vision tests, blood work, and something called an X-ray that could see through the body.
They were certainly looking into things in great detail. It didn't really matter, but I wasn't fond of injections because they were painful. I would have preferred to skip them if possible.
“Ugh… I feel dizzy. As I thought, I am not fond of injections.”
“Hahaha, you’re still bad with needles, Zerof? But as expected of Shneider-niisan. He didn't even change his expression.”
“Yeah, it’s like Hell because his muscles are so thick the needle can hardly get through, and yet he doesn't even twitch an eyebrow. Shuna-nii is just too incredible.”
While Albert and the others directed gazes of respect toward Shneider while clutching the marks from their injections, the chair he had been sitting on was bent out of shape.
That was because he had been gripping it to endure the pain. Having superhuman strength is a struggle in its own right.
“Now, it’s Lloyd’s turn.”
“Yes.”
Since I was also no exception to hating injections, I would take the liberty of cheating a little here.
First, at the moment of the injection, I generated a Magic Body with a texture identical to skin and let the needle pierce that.
Furthermore, I generated microscopic Magic Pores inside my blood vessels and used Spatial Transfer to flow the blood directly into the syringe.
With this, it wouldn't hurt at all even while I was being injected.
“Whoa, whoa, creating Magic Pores inside your body—and in your blood vessels, no less—is way too dangerous, Master Lloyd. That’s far more hazardous than a mere syringe.”
“He is right. If it were anyone other than Master Lloyd, with his staggering precision and control, the contents of his body would be scattered into an alternate dimension and vanish in an instant.”
Grimo and Jiriel were completely appalled, but I hated injections, so it couldn't be helped.
I wish someone would develop a technology to draw blood without feeling any pain.
Having finished all the measurements, we took our result sheets and headed toward Rion.
Rion read through the results written on the sheets and gave advice to each person one by one.
“Big brother Shneider is healthy to a point that is physically excessive. You possess an almost abnormal level of physical strength, but you rely on it too much and push yourself too hard. Please be very careful during battle.”
“I shall do my best.”
“Big Brother Albert… well, based on the results, there seem to be no issues with you working. Even so, you are still recovering, so please ease back into it slowly. By all means, do not overdo it.”
“Yeah, I’ll be careful.”
“Big Brother Zerof, as I suspected, your posture has worsened significantly from doing too much desk work. Perform three sets of thirty-second shoulder and neck stretches every day; do not be lazy about it. Also, you are eating too much. Make sure to chew your vegetables well instead of just eating meat. Of course, you must not forget to exercise, either.”
“Ugh… Understood.”
“Big Brother Dian, your physique is close to the ideal. You have no major stress, and your activity level is sufficient.”
“All right! I beat Albert-nii!”
“That said, be careful not to drink too much. Even though you are young, it will become dangerous as you get older if drinking becomes a habit, so keep it in moderation.”
“...O-Oh.”
Dian had been acting triumphant, but he slumped at the additional remark.
This man was well-connected both inside and outside the castle, so he was invited to some kind of gathering almost every day.
That being said, just like the other older brothers, there didn't seem to be any major problems.
Even so, it’s amazing how much can be learned from something like a blood test. Since blood circulates through the entire body, they can tell the condition of the whole system just by drawing a small portion.
I once engraved a Spell Formula into my blood, but back then, I carved a massive number of formulas throughout my entire body all at once.
Normally, one would probably pour them in little by little along the bloodstream and let them complete over time.
Man, to discover a method like this in a place like this… magic discoveries really can be found anywhere. It was a hassle, but I’m glad I took the checkup.
“Now, finally, Lloyd… hmm, no problems. It’s almost mysterious how healthy your body is despite having such an irregular lifestyle.”
Rion snorted as if he found it uninteresting, but I actually pay a surprising amount of attention to my health.
My daily diet and lifestyle habits are strictly managed by Sylpha and the others, and when I absolutely don't have enough sleep, I use Control System Magic to move my body during swordsmanship training while I sleep soundly.
Furthermore, since I use magic to float while reading, I can change my posture freely, so my body doesn't get stiff.
In my previous life, my reckless lifestyle caught up with me, and I suffered from poor health many times. Using that experience, I currently try to be as careful as possible.
“Normally speaking, that’s an extremely unhealthy lifestyle, yet he maintains his health through magic and whatnot… He’s certainly shrewd.”
“Nuooohhh, I want to be looked after by Sylpha-tan and the others too! If that cannot be granted, then at least let me go to the other side of the curtain!”
Jiriel, whose face was now battered and swollen, let out a groan.
It seemed he hadn't learned his lesson at all. Even Grimo looked exasperated.
“However, hmm. Health management, huh. It seems everyone cares less about their own physical condition than I thought.”
It might be fine for now, but at this rate, someone else might collapse eventually. That would be a problem.
There’s no guarantee that Rion will be able to solve it again, and if my excellent older brothers and sisters become unable to work, it will undoubtedly hinder my magic research.
“I need everyone to stay healthy and live long lives as much as possible… I know.”
I thought of a good idea. I left the great hall with a faint smirk on my face.
