Chapter Seven Hundred and Sixteen: Character Introduction ④

Edge

He was the protagonist of the original work.

Because he was a silent protagonist, his presence often faded into the background.

The original work featured multiple endings and offered a high degree of freedom. Normally, one could obtain ESP by receiving special tattoos passed down among pirates and minority ethnic groups.

In the Veronica Route, he entered a romantic relationship with her. However, because the old Imperial system was incapable of defeating the Zorks, the route eventually forced him and Veronica to kill each other. Furthermore, once he defeated Veronica, Fairy—who had abandoned humanity and transformed into a DLC boss—would activate her humanity extermination plan. Thus, this route led directly to the Humanity Extinction End.

Even if one managed to defeat Fairy, the infrastructure would have collapsed entirely, and the subsequent Zen God Race invasion would have finished the job. In that scenario, Eddy would have become the leader of the United Human Alliance, but extinction was all but guaranteed.

In a sense, Edge was the person who benefited the most from Leo-kun being alive.

Currently, he was an Imperial Noble and a member of the Chronos Army. Since he lacked a formal education, he let a deputy govern his home planet. He married Alyssa once he obtained his Officer Academy Graduation Qualification. In terms of combat, he followed a balanced type style similar to Eddy’s. He was highly valued for his utility, serving as a jack-of-all-trades who could handle any niche task. Since strengthening or expanding one's ESP shortened their lifespan as a price, this outcome was likely for the best.

Alyssa

She was Edge’s wife and had undergone a class change from a Jester to a Sage.

She was a childhood friend from Edge’s planet. In fact, the reason their world was attacked in the first place was because Alyssa was a Jester. However, because she was not an absolute airhead like Leo-kun or Tatiana, her aptitude as a Jester was low. She eventually awakened as a Sage due to the inferiority complex she felt regarding her abilities.

Like Tatiana, she was a super firepower specialization type who unleashed high-output ESP from floating batteries. However, the number of floating batteries she could control was significantly lower than Tatiana’s. Since she survived and found happiness, there was a strong sense that things had turned out exactly as they should have.

Eddy Anheim

He served as the leader of the boys and was a member of the Imperial Swordsmanship Club. He had been a participant in the National Tournament.

He was one of the most grounded and decent people in the story. Unlike Edge, Eddy possessed no complexes; instead, he felt a sense of duty to remain normal, believing that everyone would be wiped out if he didn't support them. In fact, it was estimated that several people would have died if Eddy hadn't been there.

He was a universal type capable of fighting at any range, representing the ideal soldier envisioned by the Galactic Imperial Army. While his presence was somewhat overshadowed by the fact that Leo-kun was a complete monster, he was the second strongest among their Officer Academy classmates.

His wife was the older Minerva-san. Having matured through the harsh experiences of war—largely consisting of cleaning up after Leo-kun—he maintained a healthy and stable marriage. He was almost entirely a victim of Leo-kun’s antics.

For a time, the girls mistakenly believed he was the mastermind behind the Ugly Ranking Incident, but in reality, he was merely angry about the situation and refused to get involved. That misunderstanding had since been cleared up, and the girls now recognized Eddy as their leader. (They viewed Leo-kun as someone of high status belonging to an entirely different category.)

Among military scholars, it was analyzed that the failure to kill Eddy, along with the existence of Leo Kamishiro, was a major factor in the Zork defeat. As for his home planet in the Anheim Main House, it had achieved monstrous economic growth despite him doing nothing in particular, all thanks to his chief retainer, an anomalous individual named Suematsu-san.

Katsuo Isono

He was a top-tier idiot, even among the many airheads in their Officer Academy class. He was currently the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Chronos.

He belonged to the baseball club and was the son of a high-ranking official in the Imperial Army. He lived with the family of his much older sister, and he treated his nephew like a younger brother. While he suffered from several personality flaws—being labeled a horny monkey, a stifling jock, and a man with no delicacy—he was cheerful and highly capable.

He also worked as a wrestler under the name Masked Isono. He favored hardcore matches involving weapon attacks and was currently learning how to systematically destroy tables. His wife was Hanako-san, a young lady from the same military faction. He was completely under her thumb, but he was perfectly happy.

As a car collector, he was the only man among their Officer Academy classmates who actually managed to squander his assets. He didn't use underhanded tricks like Leo-kun, who processed his escape bikes as military equipment to make them effectively free (despite them being official military gear, Leo-kun simply kept duplicate keys and authentication copies).

He participated in rallies with the Kamishiro Group team and established numerous friendly relations through sports diplomacy. He was a man who enjoyed deep space to the absolute fullest. Unusually for the boys, he was not a victim of Leo-kun; he was almost always an accomplice. His exclusive machine was a close-range attack type equipped with a naginata. His marksmanship was decent.

Nakajima

His full name was Francois Nakajima. He was Isono’s partner and a member of the baseball club.

There was an original setting where he looked like Shigeru Mizuki’s character Salaryman Yamada with his glasses on but became handsome once they were removed, though the author forgot this and never used it. In pro wrestling, he rampaged as the villainous wrestler Masked Nakajima. He swung a saber with a round guard on the tip.

Naturally, he was an airhead. Like Isono, he was in charge of foreign affairs and actively engaged in sports diplomacy. While he received less attention because Isono stood out, he was an anomalous individual in his own right. His exclusive machine was a close-range attack type armed with a hammer. He also had a wife.

Saijo-kun

He was a victim of the girls. After entering the academy early by skipping grades, he was forced into wearing female clothing by the girls who had become a pack of older sisters, specifically Yuri-chan. Because he possessed a pure-type beautiful girl face, he looked exceptionally good in it.

Except during combat, he was always dressed as a girl. He lived by the philosophy that cross-dressing was the manliest act possible, as it was something only a man could do. After graduating from the Officer Academy through special measures, he joined Wifey’s Imperial Guard Knight Order. He achieved a massive promotion, becoming an Imperial Guard Knight for Her Majesty the Emperor.

While his contributions were not depicted during the Zork arc, he was a monster on the level of Melissa among Leo-kun’s companions. He was more skilled in close-quarters combat than Isono or Nakajima, and his melee abilities were on par with Melissa’s. He was a universal type leaning toward close-range, with marksmanship that was better than average.

He came from a family with a lineage of ancient martial arts different from Melissa's. His parents were overjoyed by his unprecedented success—becoming a hero of the Zork War, a friend of the King of Chronos, and an Imperial Guard Knight for the Galactic Empire Emperor—but they were also deeply anxious about the fact that their son had been completely transformed by female clothing.

Ultimately, the cross-dressing was the root of all evil. Although they were momentarily relieved when he became engaged to Yuri-chan, they still clutched their heads at the fact that he continued to dress as a woman. According to him, it was simply "Because I am beautiful." Since he actually was beautiful, even Piggett didn't scold him. There was a transparent hope among others that he wouldn't be able to maintain the look once he reached his mid-twenties, but how it would actually turn out remained to be seen. He was on excellent terms with Yuri-chan, even attending cosplay events with her. He, too, was an anomalous individual.

Maruma-kun

He was Ren’s younger brother and a member of the Beast Race; he admired Leo-kun as his elder brother.

Ren had entered the Officer Academy specifically to protect him. He was a very honest and good boy. Currently, he was being supported by an aide and an educator dispatched by Wifey. He was highly popular among his subjects and was treated like a beloved grandson even by members of the Pro-Emperor Faction.
