Character Introduction ②
Melissa Tachibana Kamishiro Chronos
She was one of Leo-kun’s wives.
Initially, she was a boyish girl who used masculine pronouns, though her first-person pronoun changed to a feminine one in the published versions. She was the youngest child of the prestigious Tachibana family, masters of ancient martial arts. Her biological mother, who was her father’s second wife, had disappeared with another man years prior.
She once held the title of Count of the Tachibana Main House before becoming a Queen of Chronos, known as the Martial Consort. Eventually, she returned the headship of the house to her father. The name "Tachibana" remained in her full title specifically because of her former status as the head of the main house.
While the boys in her youth used to disparage her by calling her ugly behind her back, she was actually exactly Leo-kun’s type. In truth, every boy except Kevin thought she was incredibly sexy. The situation was a tragedy of social errors: boys, confused by her burgeoning sex appeal, called her ugly out of sheer embarrassment. This caused a miffed Melissa to lash out with a series of verbal harrassments—telling the boys how weak they were—which wounded their pride and led them to double down on the insults. It was a vicious cycle where the boys lit the fire, but Melissa was the one who poured gasoline on it.
Leo-kun was usually away on his days off for various license and qualification training sessions, so he was largely excluded from this schoolyard drama. Before the Zork War, Melissa thought of Leo-kun as a lovable idiot, but she held him in high regard because he had fought to a draw with Edge and possessed the skill to dodge her own blade. She was among the few who recognized Leo-kun’s abnormality long before the war began.
While of Japanese descent, her missing biological mother hailed from Rikochi’s hometown. Having been raised among the men of her family, she was far too comfortable around the opposite sex. She truly loved Leo-kun because he was the only one who treated her like a girl. Given her status as a Viscount’s daughter, she accepted that sharing him in a harem was an inevitable part of her life.
She was a Master of the Tachibana Style. Her skill was so immense that her certificate was inscribed with the rank of "Inclusion" rather than a mere "Permit." While she was often cited alongside Rikochi in discussions about the strongest woman, both she and Rikochi maintained that Ren was the true peak. In the published editions, she was depicted with a more voluptuous figure.
Though she was a capable pilot, she fought with a reckless, suicidal intensity that required constant monitoring. She had little talent for internal affairs, but thanks to her time helping at her family’s theme park, she was an expert at operating a cash register. Furthermore, her experience at a sightseeing ranch meant she could even assist in the births of cattle and horses. Despite her affinity for animals, she refused to keep pets because she was emotionally fragile; the death of a companion would have left her mentally devastated.
Though she appeared to have a breezy, straightforward personality, she was actually quite sentimental and heavy-hearted. Among Leo-kun’s many eccentric wives, her inner self was the most traditionally feminine. Regarding the harem, she made the practical judgment that handling a man like Leo alone was simply impossible.
Ren Mistral Kamishiro Chronos
She was the illegitimate child of Duke House Mistral and a member of the Beast Race, modified humans designed to combat dangerous organisms. Because the Beast Race were often perceived as cute, high-ranking nobles frequently kept them as mistresses. While the social elite were ostensibly of Japanese descent, the reality was that genetic lines had long since been diluted by the Beast Race, Jesters, and other factors. Even the Imperial Family’s claim to pure Japanese lineage had largely collapsed.
Ren enrolled in the Imperial Officer Academy to protect herself and her younger brother, Marma, from assassination. She had reached an agreement with her stepmother to cut ties with the family and live quietly with Marma once she earned her Imperial Capital Citizenship. She intended to stay under the radar, but the Zork War claimed the lives of all other heirs to the Mistral name, leaving Marma as the head of the house.
She eventually became one of Leo-kun’s wives, which allowed her to finally pursue her lifelong dream: becoming a cat-ear maid. Her late mother had been a maid, and Ren longed to follow in her footsteps. However, her physical capabilities were far too high to remain hidden. Despite being trained as a mechanic, she was pressed into service as a sniper, and it was eventually discovered that she held a Shooting Skill Badge. She had spent much of her youth at the Mistral estate hunting from horseback.
As a modified human, she could fight monstrous beasts with her bare hands, even capable of taking down a Crab-type Zork without weapons. Despite this, her only formal martial arts training came from the academy. Because she harbored a deep dislike for combat, she served as the Grand Chamberlain of Chronos, where she thoroughly enjoyed her life as a maid.
She was utterly loyal to Leo-kun for saving her and her brother. More than that, her instincts perceived him as the Alpha Male of a pack. Consequently, she loved him on a primal level. Personally, she was quite detached; her biological father’s treatment of her had taught her not to expect anything from others. She ignored the petty squabbles of the humans around her, viewing them as fools. Aside from her maid duties, she was largely indifferent to the world. Regarding Leo-kun’s harem, she held the simple, alien view that it was only natural for a strong male to have many mates.
The Fairy (Imperial Princess Luna)
She was Leo-kun’s partner, an autonomous AI, and a genius hacker. Her true identity was the core of the Mother AI that governed the Empire. During the latter half of the Zork War, it was revealed that she was actually the spirit of Imperial Princess Luna, a powerful ESPer who had died centuries ago during human experimentation.
Her ability allowed her to convert souls into digital information, making her the most powerful entity in existence. Had she wished, she could have annihilated the Galactic Empire single-handedly. However, she had a massive backlog of manga, games, anime, and light novels spanning several centuries. While she spent her time catching up on media, she kept an eye on the Imperial Family because her own clone’s bloodline had been integrated into theirs.
In the original timeline, she was a "DLC Boss" who would have triggered a total extermination of humanity after Veronica was defeated by Edge. In that sense, Leo-kun had saved the Galactic Empire multiple times simply by existing. She adored Leo-kun; since Veronica was a direct descendant of her clone, it was likely that she was genetically destined to love him. Although she had nearly killed Leo-kun in the past, he had long since forgiven her—partially because he would have been buried under a mountain of paperwork without her help.
She was currently in the process of adjusting a physical body for herself. With current technology, only a Female-type Zork body could withstand her immense power, which meant the Emperor who killed her centuries ago had committed an act that was not only cruel but strategically disastrous. Meanwhile, her clone Selene had married Amada and was currently pregnant. Despite claiming to be Veronica’s older sister, the Fairy was frequently the one who acted like a spoiled younger sibling.
Kevin
Kevin was a Female-type Zork and a former male. Originally a commoner from a refined colony near the Imperial Capital, Kevin was so well-mannered that Leo-kun had once mistaken him for the son of a Baronet. Kevin had been a delicate, beautiful boy who was often excluded from the rowdy behavior of the other men. He was the innocent, "shota" type whom the others protected from corruption. By the time he reached adulthood, however, he had become well aware of the darker side of the world.
Kevin transformed into a girl due to the manifestation of the Zork factor. Though Kevin had nearly caused Leo-kun’s death through a past conspiracy, the official reason for his survival was that he had been forgiven after being "punished" with a transformation into a large-breasted, boyish girl. In reality, the men of the Space Marines had planned to lynch Kevin to maintain their solidarity. Leo-kun, sensing this, took the lead in teasing Kevin about his new body and acting like a crude friend, which signaled to the others that if the victim was fine with it, they should be too.
Simultaneously, high-ranking noblewomen had plotted to poison Kevin for harming the Imperial Groom. This plan was only abandoned when Wifey intervened, declaring that Kevin would be made into one of the Lord Groom’s women. Though the Duke Association and the military had also considered assassination, Kevin was ultimately allowed to live as the representative of the Female-type Zork population.
Kevin’s survival was secured by the narrowest of margins. Even now, though neither Leo-kun nor Kevin fully realized it, Kevin’s life depended on eventually becoming one of Leo-kun’s wives.
Kevin had originally trained as a drone scout and a medic. After the Zork transformation, Kevin’s talent as a relay for Zork signals blossomed, allowing him to operate a massive swarm of drones with individual precision. This made him perhaps the greatest specialist in reconnaissance and assassination in the world. Furthermore, Kevin obtained a nursing qualification and was pushed through an accelerated medical degree by the military. Having passed the national exams, Kevin was now being molded into a elite surgeon with extensive battlefield experience.
Because of the Female-type Zork biology, Kevin instinctively performed the "ideal girl" behaviors that men unconsciously desired. This had become Leo-kun’s greatest source of stress, especially since the social and political path toward their marriage had already been paved by everyone else.
