Ch. 369 · Source

A Death-Defying Twin Explosion!

This form fused the absolute durability and power of the Purple Armor with the elemental affinity and agility of the Flame Armor, amplifying them to even greater heights.

Yui and the others watched with bated breath as Yugo unleashed a relentless barrage. His strikes were powerful enough to bypass the inherent resistances of Zaraki's Dragon Power, dealing visible damage. Yugo did not grant his opponent a single moment of respite.

"Urrraaaaaah!!"

"Nguuh!? Gh, oooooh!?"

One moment he seemed to charge head-on, the next he had slipped to the flank to drive a sharp elbow strike home.

Whenever Zaraki threw a punch in desperation, Yugo met it with a perfect counter, burying a straight punch into the villain's face.

Elbows, knees, fists, kicks—every time Yugo’s strikes, wreathed in purple flames, connected, scorched black marks seared into Zaraki’s flesh, and his grey scales crumbled away.

When Yugo drove a fist into his stomach, Zaraki let out a choked groan of agony and doubled over. The impact sent a spray of purple fire erupting from the Half-dragon's back.

Though Zaraki was being almost completely overwhelmed, he was not an opponent to be taken lightly.

Squinting through the barrage, he managed to track Yugo's movements just enough to throw a punch of his own, prepared for a mutual strike.

"Right there! Eat this!!"

Zaraki clenched a fist twice the size of Yugo's and thrust it straight forward.

Despite the pain of being struck in the face, a smirk touched Zaraki's lips as he felt his fist sink into his target's chest—only for his expression to be instantly overwritten by shock and excruciating pain.

"Agh!? Gaaah!? Gafuh!"

The fist he had driven into the center of Yugo's chest was instantly engulfed in purple flames.

The air filled with a sharp sizzle and the acrid smell of burning meat. Screaming at the sudden, intense heat, Zaraki recoiled. Yugo followed up immediately with a knee strike that sent him reeling backward until he collapsed.

"Hey... you... are you out of your mind? Fighting while encased in that much heat... no sane human would do that!"

Zaraki stared at his charred hand, the phantom heat still searing his nerves as he spoke.

Fee and Anhel, watching the battle unfold, shared his horror. They looked on with tearful eyes, their voices trembling.

"You complete moron...! The Flame Armor was already a death trap! To manifest a form with even more weight and heat... what is he thinking!?"

The Flame Armor boasted incredible performance, but only at the cost of catastrophic damage to the wearer's body.

Even that was dangerous enough—and yet Yugo had created a form that was a concentrated mass of even greater risk.

Theoretically, it was possible, but it should have been unattainable. Just how much training had Yugo undergone to enable the simultaneous use of two armors? It was a feat they had never even considered possible.

Naturally, Yugo understood the danger of the Purple Flame Armor better than anyone. That was precisely why he had never attempted to use it until this very moment.

He was wielding that power now because, fully aware of the consequences, he had decided it was the only way to protect his friends.

Even if it meant breaking his promise to Anhel or casting aside his pride as a Hero, regardless of what happened to his own body, he would fight for those he loved.

Sensing his brother's unwavering resolve, Fee turned to Anhel, his eyes brimming with tears.

"Anhel-san, how long... how long can Brother stay safe in that armor!?"

"Thirty seconds is his limit! Any longer, and Yugo will definitely... die!"

The Purple Flame Armor continued to radiate more heat with every passing second. No matter how much Yugo tried to suppress the internal temperature with his Magic Power, he would reach his breaking point soon.

Hearing that his brother had a mere thirty-second Time Limit, Fee clasped his hands together and prayed desperately.

"Brother...! Please, stay safe!!"

Even as they spoke, Yugo continued to hammer Zaraki.

With fists and legs wreathed in purple fire, he battered the Dragon-man Form, his strikes gaining momentum until they threatened to shatter Zaraki's defenses entirely.

"Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!"

"Guh, nuoooh...!?"

Zaraki was cornered. He could do nothing but brace himself and endure.

Yugo moved and struck at blinding speeds; any reckless attempt at a counter was met with a devastating punishment.

Even if Zaraki managed to land a blow in exchange for taking one, the sheer heat of the Purple Flame Armor ensured he would suffer far more than his opponent.

(What is this guy!? Is this man really human!?)

He had become a Half-dragon, ascended to his combat-ready Dragon-man Form, and supposedly surpassed the limits of humanity—yet he was being forced into a pathetic defense.

Was this man, Yugo, truly a human being? Zaraki couldn't help but doubt it.

Knocked away once more, Zaraki stumbled as his posture broke. He looked up just as Yugo began to channel his Magic Power, raising the heat of his flames to their absolute Critical Point.

As an explosion of fire shook the very earth, Yugo clenched his fists, concentrating the purple flames into his arms.

"Blaster—!!"

(It's coming!!)

Zaraki knew the Purple Flame Armor carried an immense risk.

He had already deduced that there must be a time limit, and he expected Yugo to unleash a final, decisive blow just before he reached it.

Seeing Yugo prepare his finishing move, Zaraki braced himself to receive it head-on.

He believed he still had a chance. If he could survive this final strike and launch a counterattack while Yugo was spent, the tide would turn.

More than anything, his pride as a being that had surpassed humanity wouldn't allow him to run.

He convinced himself he would win—that a being with Dragon Power could never lose to a mere human. As he rallied his spirit, Yugo roared, his arms wreathed in a violent inferno.

"Twin—!!"

The enormous heat of his Magic Power surged from his arms through his torso and into his legs.

Having pushed his body past its breaking point and sharpened his mind to a razor's edge, Yugo locked onto his target. He charged at Zaraki with eyes wide and focused.

"Explosion!!"

"Uooooooooh!?"

To Zaraki, it looked like a violet sun in human form was hurtling toward him.

Spiraling flames swirled around Yugo's arms as purple fire erupted from his entire body. He moved at a speed that even a Dragon-man could barely track, driving his fist into Zaraki.

A massive detonation occurred at the moment of impact, followed instantly by a second explosion of the flames enveloping Yugo's body.

Fee and the others were forced to shield their eyes from the blinding double-blast of purple fire. They huddled together, bracing themselves as the shockwaves tore through the battlefield.

Finally, the afterglow faded. When they raised their heads and saw what remained after the clash, they were left utterly speechless.
