Side: Cyan & Egos (A Tale of Men Who Devised a Nefarious Plan Using Game Knowledge)

"Dammit, dammit, dammit!! Why the hell are flags being raised between Scum Yugo and those shrine maidens?! More importantly, why aren't any flags being raised with us?!"

"It is what it is, isn't it? You should understand, Cyan, that anyone who defeated the Gigantes would earn high marks from all the Warrior Shrine Maidens. Since he took it down alongside Ryuga, Setsuna’s interest naturally shifted toward him."

"But even we did plenty of work—"

"Calm down. This is actually something we should be happy about. Our targets are Sakura and Raiha, not Setsuna. It doesn't look like all three of them have been swayed by Yugo. The fact that the one person randomly selected wasn't a character we were aiming for is a stroke of luck, don't you think?"

A short while later, having begun his security duties at the Insect Museum, Cyan continued to vent his frustrations to Egos regarding the earlier incident.

Cyan was unable to stomach the fact that Setsuna had shown interest in Yugo—to say nothing of the way she had completely brushed him off. In contrast, Egos maintained a detached, almost enlightened attitude.

While they appeared to be the same age on the outside, Egos was a man in his late thirties who had spent years in a black company; he possessed a certain composure that Cyan lacked... though his words still carried a trace of childishness. Cyan clicked his tongue and scanned the area, continuing their hushed conversation.

"There's no need to be so impatient. Once my plan succeeds, Fee will be erased. When that happens, Yugo won't be in any state to go on dates with those Warrior Shrine Maidens. His flags will snap all on their own."

"Well, I guess... but are you sure the arrangements for this plan are perfect?"

"I explained it all to you, didn't I? There's absolutely nothing to worry about. It will work, without a doubt."

Egos offered breezy encouragement to the irritated and anxious Cyan. One would never guess from his casual tone that they were currently plotting to make a young boy disappear.

The assassination plan Egos had conceived centered around an event scheduled to take place right here in the Insect Museum. It was a strategy only possible for a reincarnator who knew exactly what the future held.

At present, the plan was proceeding flawlessly. As Egos had stated, there wasn't a single cause for concern to be found.

While Uno, the head of the first-year high school division, was officially in charge of the field trip, it was Lamy who had been tasked with coordinating the student security details. Because the three Warrior Shrine Maidens and Yui were part of this excursion, Lamy held the ultimate decision-making power regarding their protection.

Knowing this would happen beforehand, Cyan and Egos had worked tirelessly to build up Lamy's Affection Level and Trust. They had successfully manufactured a situation where she would grant almost any request they made. By exploiting that influence, they were crafting the exact scenario they desired.

The elementary students had been split into several groups, each accompanied by a chaperone teacher and a few student guards as they toured the facility. Cyan and Egos had successfully lobbied to be assigned to the group containing Fee and Yui. With that, the first phase of their plan was complete.

While it was a pity they couldn't stay close to the Warrior Shrine Maidens for now, they could focus on deepening those relationships once the meddlesome Yugo had been removed from the picture. As for Yugo and his friends, they had used Lamy to station them at the point furthest from where the upcoming event would trigger, forcing them into a tedious guard post far away from the action.

Now, they only had to wait for the event to begin. Once it did, the stage would be set exactly as they had envisioned.

There were some tactics that could only be deployed by someone who knew the script... Egos, fully intending to wield the weapon known as game knowledge, let a dark smirk cross his face as he spoke to Cyan.

"It’s almost time for the plot to move. I’m quite looking forward to what comes next, Cyan-kun."

Cyan didn't respond. He felt it wasn't his place to judge, but he couldn't help but find it slightly unsettling how Egos seemed to be genuinely enjoying himself as he played through this life like a game.
