Introduction of Characters Who Appeared in Chapter Two and the Short Stories

Students of Luminous Academy

Anhel Amber

A first-year in the High School Division's Industrial Department. She was a female student who could be described as "dynamite" in every sense of the word, characterized by her vibrant orange hair and a superb figure.

She first became interested in Yugo after witnessing him draw out levels of performance from a Blaster that far exceeded its intended specifications. At his request, she agreed to handle all future Blaster Modifications. Under her expertise, the Blaster underwent a dramatic evolution. She provided specialized tuning for Yugo, integrated a Limb Shape Transformation Function, and spearheaded the development of the Flame Armor—a powerful new form utilizing a recently acquired Flame Attribute Magic Crystal.

Anhel was intensely curious about both Yugo, who pushed the Blaster beyond its absolute limits, and Fee, who had performed the initial modifications on his brother’s gear despite his young age. She frequently teased the two brothers using her ample bosom, which boasted even more volume than Melt’s.

Though she was viewed as an eccentric by other Industrial Department Students and kept at a distance, her skills and her ethical approach to Magic Items were beyond reproach. She held a firm conviction that an engineer’s duty was not merely to maintain equipment, but to judge whether the user possessed the character to wield that power correctly. After witnessing several incidents, she grew to admire Yugo’s straightforward nature and officially joined the party as his exclusive maintenance engineer.

Conversely, she harbored a deep loathing for the other Hero Candidates. Despite their outward appearance of being "shining heroes," she could sense a hidden, inescapable malice beneath their skin. Her contempt for them became absolute after she witnessed them attempting to loot the materials Isaac had possessed almost immediately after his death—materials that had already rightfully passed to Yugo. Following that display of greed, she severed all ties with them.

In the game Luminous History, she was a character whom players could commission to manufacture weapons and armor. She possessed a unique trait where bonus stats were added to any equipment she forged based on her Affection Level. In combat, she was a formidable S-rank power fighter who wielded a set of Magic Items known as the Seventh Tool. She also possessed specialized skills for gathering materials and dealing devastating "slaying" damage to enemies with wood, stone, or iron attributes.

The fact that the Reincarnators were unable to recruit Anhel—an "erotic" character who rivaled Melt in popularity, a powerful combat unit, and a vital asset for equipment maintenance—was a devastating blow to their plans. Consequently, many of them harbored a bitter grudge against Yugo. Her name was derived from the song "Angel" and the gemstone "Amber." Because her name was associated with "Angel," which she felt did not suit her personality, she only allowed those she truly respected to call her "Ann." She became quite angry if anyone used the nickname without her express permission.

Hex Ono

A first-year student in the High School Division and a classmate of Yugo. He was characterized by his silver hair, which he kept tied back with a headband. He wielded a hatchet-style Magic Item and fought with a versatile mix of powerful slashes and wide-range throwing attacks.

Yugo and his friends first encountered him at the Industrial Department Workshop while they were searching for an engineer. At the time, Hex was more volatile than usual, fueled by frustration over Neid’s high prices and slow work, as well as his own desperate desire to join a high-ranking hero's party. However, after losing a Duel to Yugo and subsequently being rescued by him following a cowardly ambush by Isaac, Hex underwent a genuine change of heart and became one of Yugo's most reliable friends.

Though his injuries and the loss of his materials during Isaac's ambush forced him to abandon his dream of joining the prominent hero parties, the setback allowed him to shed his arrogance and develop a refreshingly honest personality. During the crisis caused by Neid, he rushed to the scene alongside Claire to support Yugo, finally repaying the debt he felt he owed.

Following those events, Hex began handling tasks that were outside the party's usual expertise, such as leveraging his wide social circle for information gathering. His contributions were surprisingly high, and because of his straightforward nature, Yugo placed a significant amount of trust in him. He also seemed to have developed a romantic interest in Misery, who began teaming up with him through Yugo's introduction. He was a young man in the full bloom of youth.

In the game, he was considered an easy-to-use character with high attack power and a wide variety of techniques. However, he had a notable weakness in that he could learn almost no attribute-based attacks. He occupied a somewhat middling position—not weak, certainly, but not quite top-tier either. His name was derived from the words "Hercus" and "Axe."

Neid Gahn

A first-year in the High School Division's Industrial Department. He had been a fixture in the workshop since his days in the Middle School Division and possessed undeniable technical skill. However, he had a twisted personality and a "craftsman’s temperament" in the worst sense of the term. He was fiercely insular and refused to show even the slightest bit of courtesy to students he didn't know.

He was the true culprit behind the series of incidents involving the Demonic Swords, acting as their manufacturer. After receiving a specialized hammer from the mastermind Lost, he used it to hone his forbidden crafting skills. He had viewed Isaac—who brought him requests and tributes—as a useful associate and even placed some trust in him. However, when he witnessed Isaac trying to discard him in favor of Anhel, his resentment boiled over.

Neid channeled all his rage toward the General Department students who looked down on him, his professional jealousy toward Anhel, and his hatred for Isaac’s betrayal into his forging. Lost then scattered his creations to collect combat data. This was the dark truth behind the sudden surge of Demonic Sword attacks.

While he claimed his actions were a form of legitimate revenge, the fact that he involved so many innocent bystanders and even drained the Life Force of his own subordinates suggested that his justifications were merely a convenience to soothe his own conscience. He eventually confronted Yugo, who had uncovered the truth, and used the hammer’s power to transform into a Magic Armor Beast. Despite his monstrous strength, he was utterly defeated by the overwhelming power of Yugo's Flame Armor. Afterward, Lost wiped his memories to ensure his silence. While his actions were unforgivable, his fate might have been very different if he had found someone he could truly trust. His name was derived from the gemstone "Garnet."

Misery Pim

A first-year in the High School Division's General Department. Her father was a renowned Magic Knight known by the alias "The Stinger." Admiring him deeply, she used a nearly identical Magic Item called the Wasp Needle.

Although her skills were initially mediocre, she had been scouted by Cyan Fail because she was female. At the time, she believed Cyan had recognized her potential and placed a fair amount of trust in him. However, as the competition between the Hero Candidates intensified, Cyan discarded her without hesitation, revealing that he had only recruited her for her looks.

The revelation left Misery in a state of severe shock. Determined to change herself, she sought an apprenticeship with Yugo and began grueling special training. Under his tutelage, she learned more than just combat techniques; she learned to define her own sense of purpose. By facing her own weaknesses, she broke through her shell and discovered a unique fighting style—one that was different from her father's, yet shared the same heroic spirit.

She remained deeply grateful to Yugo and his friends. Even after moving on from his direct instruction, she continued to visit regularly. She eventually formed a team with Hex, spending her days honing her skills and fulfilling requests. Her techniques often featured matching initials, such as Spiral Stinger Shot (SSS) and Assault Amazing Assassin (AAA), which she considered a personal hobby. Her personality was primarily modeled after Minori Ichinose.

Presia Rice

A second-year in the High School Division and the current President of the Cooking Club. She possessed a slightly plump "marshmallow body" and a personality that was every bit as soft and gentle as her appearance.

Even though Yugo had trashed the Cooking Club room in the past, she showed incredible magnanimity by forgiving him. Because of her kindness, Yugo hailed her as a "Goddess" and felt a profound sense of debt toward her. While she could be a bit airheaded at times, her caring nature earned her the absolute trust of her club members, including the Vice President, Hao.

Her culinary skills were top-tier, and she dreamed of using her cooking to bring smiles to people all over the world—a dream that Yugo supported wholeheartedly. During an ingredient-gathering trip to a local village, she was nearly forced into a traumatic situation by the cowardly Egos, who tried to make her sacrifice a young boy named Shiroi. Yugo arrived just in time to punch Egos away and save the boy, preserving both Shiroi’s life and Presia's dream. Since then, the two have shared a deep bond of trust.

In the game, she was mockingly nicknamed "Cooking Fatty" by players due to her appearance and role. However, she was actually a highly versatile support character capable of healing, applying debuffs, and buffing allies. Unlike most support units, she also boasted high Stamina. Her only major drawback was her low speed, which often meant her buffs were applied after the attackers had already moved. Her name and character were derived from Cure Precious and Kome-Kome.

Hao Chi

A first-year in the High School Division and the Vice President of the Cooking Club. In the game, he was a non-combat NPC who managed the club's "cooking window," where players could turn in materials or accept quests.

He had harbored a fierce grudge against Yugo for the past destruction of the club room. His over-cautiousness led him to recruit Cyan and Egos for a village expedition, a decision that proved disastrous. Furthermore, his aggressive questioning of a distressed Presia inadvertently led to the discovery of Shiroi, who was then taken hostage.

Witnessing Shiroi being dragged away forced Hao to realize that his hatred for Yugo had blinded him, causing him to make choices that endangered others. He eventually offered a sincere apology to Yugo and began to mend their relationship. During the battle to reveal the truth, he fought bravely despite his lack of combat skill to help rescue Shiroi. After the incident, he told Yugo that they weren't friends yet, but invited him to the club for a meal—an indirect way of saying he wanted to start a friendship. Since returning to the academy, he has continued to provide Yugo with excellent meals, building a strong bond between them. His name was derived from the Chinese word for "delicious."

Belver Lota

A minor character who likely faded from the memories of many readers. He was a male student who harassed Misery. Emboldened by equipment provided by Cyan, he challenged her to a Duel while wearing a heavy breastplate, only to be effortlessly defeated as a "jobber." His name was derived from a monster defeated by Kamen Rider TheBee.

The Fifth Dormitory Students (Jima, Avad, and Darom)

The residents of the Fifth Dormitory, which Yugo joined after ending his period of sleeping outdoors. The dormitory was notorious for its poor public order, as it housed students with low grades and undistinguished families.

Jima, the former boss of the dorm, was a quintessential delinquent. Under the mistaken belief that Yugo’s success was solely due to his Blaster, the students conspired to steal it. The plan involved Jima testing the Blaster in a Duel while the others beat down Yugo, who was left with a fake. However, Yugo decimated the students single-handedly, while Jima was soundly beaten by Hex in the Duel.

In the end, after Jima mocked the Blaster—which Yugo viewed as his sacred bond with his brother and friends—Yugo entered a cold, overwhelming state of rage and thoroughly broke Jima’s spirit. Since then, the hierarchy of the Fifth Dormitory has been completely upended. Under Yugo’s strict supervision as the "Demon Overseer," the students now spend their days performing community service and good deeds in an effort to become reformed individuals. Their names were all derived from mass-produced Riders.

Reincarnators

Isaac Area

His real name was Isao Aritou. A Hero Candidate who styled himself as a master twin-sword user, he had been a dedicated solo gamer in his past life. Influenced by the solo-play tropes of his favorite games and novels, he operated as a "lone wolf" in black, seeking to conquer the world without a party.

While other Reincarnators were busy maneuvering to gather allies, Isaac focused entirely on his own strength, giving him a temporary lead in raw power. He used the twisted but talented Neid as his exclusive engineer, though he secretly planned to replace him with Anhel before Yugo beat him to it. Desperate to overcome the weaknesses of his twin swords, he attempted to steal a Flame Attribute Magic Crystal but suffered a crushing defeat, only for the crystal to end up with Yugo.

Consumed by the delusion that superior weapons would make him invincible, he stole the Demonic Sword used by Batz and had Neid forge a replica. Equipped with two Demonic Swords, his power grew exponentially, but so did the Mental Pollution. He became increasingly violent, extorting materials from other students through forced Duels. After defeating Cyan Fail, he believed himself to be the strongest and attempted to steal Claire from the fallen Zenon.

However, Claire’s decision to call Yugo as a substitute shattered his plans. Despite his monstrous power, he was cornered and defeated by Yugo’s Flame Armor. While his life was initially spared, Neid gave him another sword that transformed him into a bat-like Magic Armor Beast. After losing a final confrontation with Marcos and reverting to human form, he was murdered by a vengeful Cyan Fail, becoming the second Reincarnator to drop out of the race. His death was a bitter irony; the "solo gamer" who looked down on others was killed by those he had betrayed and underestimated.

Cyan Fail

His real name was Mizuiro Manaka. In his past life, he was a perfectly ordinary young man and a casual gamer. After reincarnating, he was initially less interested in the "Hero Race" and more focused on building a harem of beautiful women. However, after witnessing the failures and deaths of others, he realized that a "Game Over" meant losing everything and decided to start playing for keeps.

Throughout the recent chapters, he has committed a series of reprehensible acts: discarding Misery when she was no longer useful, handing a child over to a monster, and even attempting to kill a hostage. Despite these failures—including losing his virginity to a slime monster disguised as Anhel and being knocked unconscious after running out of magic—he remains unrepentant. He smiled as he murdered his fellow Reincarnator, Isaac, proving his nature to be genuinely evil. He is expected to continue acting as a malicious force, disrupting the fates of everyone around him.

Egos Cutman

His real name was Kirio Egoshi. An otaku in his late thirties who had been an employee at a "black company," he was a casual gamer with limited knowledge of Luminous History. While he lagged behind in the Hero Race, he didn't particularly care. He simply wanted to enjoy a happy life in this new world, free from the drudgery of his past life.

Though an adult, he was incredibly childish and selfish, possessing a dangerous level of adult cunning mixed with a refusal to take responsibility. His wickedness was on full display when he suggested sacrificing a child to win a battle. Because Yugo punched him for his cowardice, Egos harbors a deep hatred for him and vows to get revenge. Yugo, in turn, utterly detests him for his willingness to sacrifice others. His name was derived from the enemy organization in Battle Fever J.

Other Characters

Skull

A Magic Beast Skeleton Horse born from the malice of a horse killed by Bull Golems. Yugo named him "Skull" after their first meeting. Understanding that Skull was trying to protect humans by warning them away while seeking revenge for his herd, Yugo teamed up with him.

Together, they hunted down the leader of the Bull Golems. After Yugo dealt the finishing blow with a Zanbato, Skull was released from his malice. As a token of gratitude, he gave Yugo a Flame Attribute Magic Crystal before departing. He later returned to help Yugo pursue Neid and Lost. Currently, Skull lives in the academy's staff stables as Yugo's "buddy." To hide his skeletal form in the light, he wears specialized horse armor crafted by Anhel. He has reportedly already established himself as the boss of the stables.

Jinba

A member of the Security Force who met Yugo during the encounter with Skull. He was promoted from a local captain to a Special Investigator to handle the mysterious incidents at Luminous Academy. He holds Yugo in high regard and often provides him with official support or confidential information. While he can occasionally seem a bit unreliable, he is a loyal and flexible adult ally who genuinely trusts Yugo. His character was modeled after the detective Mikio Haino from Kamen Rider W.

En, Sanga, and Batz

A trio of former pickpockets who have since disbanded. En was the first to reform, finding work as a Waitress and becoming close friends with Melt. Sanga and Batz watched over her, hoping her success would pave the way for their own rehabilitation, though they struggled with the pain of parting from their long-time friend.

Lost exploited those feelings, giving Batz a Demonic Sword that drove him to madness. Sanga, too terrified to stop his friend and unable to abandon him, helped Batz in a plot to kidnap En. The plan ultimately failed when En chose to stand her ground. After Batz began a violent rampage with the sword, he was defeated by the combined efforts of Yugo and Melt. Since the Demonic Sword was confiscated, Batz has become docile. Sanga, who survived being slashed by Batz, was released early and now works alongside En while they both wait for Batz to finish his sentence. Their names and motifs were derived from the three primary Riders in Kamen Rider 555.
