After the tense first meeting with Hiyori-sensei finally wrapped up, the conversation shifted to actual Student Council business.
Everyone took their seats in the Student Council Room, and the meeting began.
“Now that the introductions for Hiyori-sensei are complete, let’s discuss the upcoming activities for the Student Council,” Rui said, steering the topic back on track.
The moment she did, the rest of us straightened up and put on serious expressions.
“Since the Student Council President Election has concluded, the next major event is the Sports Festival.”
“The Sports Festival, huh? Yeah, that tracks for this time of year.”
Summer Beach Central High always held its Cultural Festival during the rainy season and the Sports Festival in autumn. While many school love comedies treated an autumn Cultural Festival as the standard, ours took place in the rainy season, so that wasn’t an option.
Why did it have to be during the rainy season of all times? If they held it in the hot summer months, the girls could at least wear lighter cosplay outfits.
“Setting aside Ryouta-kun, who is currently thinking about completely irrelevant things, let’s continue.”
“Don’t read my mind, Rui!”
“To ensure the Sports Festival runs smoothly, cooperation from the Athletic Clubs is absolutely essential every year. Just as the Cultural Festival is primarily led by the Cultural Clubs, the Athletic Clubs take the lead for the Sports Festival and form the Sports Festival Executive Committee.”
Huh. So there was an executive committee for the Sports Festival too, just like the Cultural Festival. I hadn’t known about it last year since I was a loner back then. Well, I’m in a harem now, though.
If I remembered correctly, Yuria had been part of the Cultural Festival Executive Committee for our class. I wasn’t sure how they decided it, but I wondered if she would end up doing it again.
“Um, Kuroki-san. If the Sports Festival Executive Committee is being formed, what exactly will the Student Council be responsible for?”
“That’s a surprisingly good question coming from Tanaka-san.”
“That’s a surprisingly good question coming from Tanaka.”
“That’s a good question coming from you, Tanaka-senpai!”
“Wha—! What is with all of you?! I’m taking this seriously too!! Don’t say it like it’s surprising!”
“My, my. Even the teacher thinks it’s a very good question coming from Tanaka-san~”
“Even the teacher I just met is joining in!?”
Tanaka had completely settled into her role as the Student Council’s designated teasing target, but it really was a good question.
“Hey, Rui. Isn’t the Student Council’s job just to oversee the event as a whole?”
“Haa… Ryouta-kun, you make it sound so simple, but that is by far the most difficult part.”
“That’s right, Ryouta-senpai! Please don’t underestimate it!”
“Exactly! Even though Ryouta-kun is a total loner, he always butts in!”
“Why am I suddenly the one under concentrated fire now?!”
“My, my. The teacher also thinks Ryouta-kun is underestimating the world too much~”
“Even the teacher I just met is joining in!?”
It seemed I had secured myself a pretty solid teasing position as well.
“You see, Ryouta-kun. ‘Overseeing’ means taking responsibility. The competition schedule must be kept within the allotted time, equipment management, line marking—everything falls under the responsibility of the overseeing side. In other words, while the Sports Festival Executive Committee handles the actual operation, the final responsibility rests with the Student Council as the administrators.”
“So basically, if anything goes wrong, it becomes our responsibility, which means we have to do it properly.”
“Correct. That’s why we must coordinate closely with the Sports Festival Executive Committee, or it will cause trouble. The Student Council I operate must be perfect, so we cannot afford to leave behind even a single stain.”
Rui narrowed her eyes sharply as she looked around at all of us.
“If any of you make a mistake… you understand what will happen, yes?”
Her bold, icy smile carried absolutely no trace of cheerfulness.
Ah… yes.
I nodded inwardly while wiping away the sweat that had broken out on my forehead.
This was bad. I had become Student Council Vice President purely because I wanted to support Rui, but standing beside her meant there was no room for mistakes…
If I messed up, there would be punishment… right?
Punishment… SM…
Yeah, I’d like that.
“Ryouta-kun? I wonder what you’re thinking about right now?”
“I told you not to read my mind!”
At this rate, I can’t even have one perverted thought.
I seriously needed to consider countermeasures against Rui’s mind-reading ability.
